Leaving space on the rsvp card?

Liz, on June 3, 2020 at 9:48 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

I'm tentatively planning on going forward with my September 6th wedding in the Finger Lakes. It's an outdoor ceremony and I'm inviting around 40 people. My immediate family seems game to come, but I would like to leave space on the RSVP card for anyone who is uncertain about their plans and would like to leave a note or just well wishes!

I'm designing my own stationary but I feel like the empty space looks awkward (I know I have boring taste in stationary and wording). I could fill that space with a sketch of the venue (drawn by my fiance), though this will already go on the invitation. What do you guys think?

I do think the space looks kind of awkward. But I also think it would be a little out of place if you wrote “comments section” or something of that sort.

Maybe you can use the space for guests to have song requests?

I personally think you should make the RSVP card very simple and straightforward and just fit what is currently pictured to the card.

If people have something to say specifically besides a straightforward yes or no, I am sure they will reach out to you to say whatever it is they need to say.

What about a song request? Or a cute design in that space.

Some space in between yes and no and the floral design at bottom would help balance it.

Thanks guys! I decided to switch to landscape orientation and add a line about dietary restrictions on the bottom. That way if people want to write any other kind of note they know that we'll be looking at the back of the card.

The landscape looks great!! Has your venue given you details about what you can and cannot have? I am an October Bride in Albany, NY and have no idea how many invites to order! Happy to limit my guest list (from 150) but need direction!

I am getting married at a pavilion in a state park, so I will confirm with the park office before sending invites. Hoping that won't be an obstacle, though. The state park is pretty hands-off as a venue and I feel fairly safe keeping it under 50 guests.

The uncertainty is part of the reason I'm making my own invites. The initial investment in paper and materials was larger than expected, but I'm still saving money. And I don't have the same concerns about limiting the guest list, but I can print exactly what I need and if I need another set of invites down the line, it will cost next to nothing.

I love the rotated landscape version! There’s still some space if they want to write something but it doesn’t look too awkwardly blank
