Late Wedding-6pm

My church only offered 2pm and 6pm weddings. Since the 2pm was booked we have our wedding set for 6pm. The ceremony would take around 30 minutes or so and the reception venue is no more than 5 minutes away. Any suggestions for the timeline of the reception? We aren't doing a sit down dinner because it would be so late, more heavy appetizers. Thoughts?

That is prime wedding with a dinner time. Not at all to late for dinner.

Not sure how to do a timeline without dinner.

My wedding is from 730-830 and reception in the same venue. We're doing a full dinner.

Why do so many new people on WW hate feeding their guests? Everyone has a different schedule and norms for when they eat dinner. 6pm-8pm is when most people have dinner. My ceremony starts at 6:30, then cocktail hour with passed and stationary apps at 7, followed by dinner, which every table should receive by 8:15-8:30.

It's 7:00 and I am still commuting home.

6pm is not late. My chubby ass wants food at that time.

What? That is dinner time. I would be so upset if I went to a wedding at that time and wasn't served a meal

6pm is not late. Please, please, please provide food for your guests, as they most likely will be starving. Also, do yourself the favor and provide beer & wine, I know some will say it's it worth it, but it really is. Dry weddings are not as fun.
