Late night snack

Light Haired Girl, on October 16, 2017 at 12:07 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

Dinner starts at 6:15ish ends around 7:30ish. We have to be out of the venue by 11pm. Would 9pm/9:30pm be too early for a late night snack?

We were thinking of having the caterer bring out pizza or a variety of grilled cheese later in the night, but if people will still be full, its pointless.

Im with Asta. PERSONALLY I'd scarf them down no matter how full I was, but it sounds like it won't be necessary in your case.

EVERY time i have seen a late night snack it goes to waste. People just stuffed themselves at cocktail hour, usually a multiple course dinner and then cake.

While i like the idea, the execution never works out.

We are doing a late night snack but our reception ends at 1:30. We will bring out the food around 10. I have never seen a late night buffet go to waste. But the weddings I have attended all end really late

Dinner in the 6-7 pm range is typical for most people I think, and two hours later strikes me as too soon for a snack. When I think "late-night snack" I think after 11, or maybe earlier if dinner was unusually early.

We aren't doing a late night snack. I feel like people will still be full.

I would skip it. DH and I had a late night snack of mini deep dish pizzas and cheesecake lollipops and no one touched them. We underestimated how many people would leave beforehand. We were handing them out to guests on the dance floor just so all that money didn't go to waste, and we still probably had 50% left at the end of the night.

Don't bother. If people want a late night snack they can order a martini with extra olives - LOL!

The late night snack at our wedding was a big hit, but our timeline was a little wider than yours--dinner ended around 8 and snack was at 11. we had a poutine bar and it was amazing--i was too nervous to eat at dinner so i basically ate allll the poutine later on. i'm pretty much always on team late snack regardless of how much time there is between dinner and after, but i can see why it might be too tight in your case.

We are getting married in the Philly area and are doing Philadelphia pretzel factory pretzels and dippers as the late night (reception ends at 11:00) snack @10:00. Dinner ends at 7:00 so I am nervous people will be hungry as they leave.

I went to a wedding recently where they had soft pretzel sticks and beer cheese! It was so good! Late night snacks are good I think because after a few drinks after dinner I would need some more food! We are serving cheeseburger and chicken & waffle sliders! I am excited about them

I went to a wedding that served dinner around 730 and the late night food was out at around 11-1130. The reception officially ended at 1 am. The food did not go to waste, and I appreciated having a snack after all the drinking and dancing!

We have a similar timeline, so we will be doing a late night snack.

We did truffle fries as a late night snack with a similar timeline to yours and it worked out great! Since they're more of a snack you can pick at, I think people were stoked on them. We had three different kinds of aioli served with it too.

I'd recommend having to go boxes for the pizza (yasss best favor! That would so be my breakfast the next morning!).

We had a bunch of leftover late night snacks butttt a lot of people talked about it/thanked us/thought it was special. I think for the cost to heighten the guest experience it was worth it. Just be sure your late night snack can travel (maybe not full size grilled cheese)

Your timing sounds good. If people have danced and drank it'd be about time for some snacks to soak up the alcohol.

It all depends on the time frame. If it was going to 1AM. I'd eat the shit out of it. I also love the idea to take it to go, eat in hotel room when you get back.

Recent wedding they had soft pretzels, water, and extra cake in baggies for us to grab on our way out. I really regret not taking the cake baggie with me.

I personally wouldn't go the late night snack route unless I had the drunchies Smiley smile

However if a lot of your guests are driving more than 45 mins away for your wedding I would suggest you do the munchie snack. Usually if I travel for a wedding, we are one of the last people to leave and by the time we get home we're ready for a snack lol
