Late night snack

Tranean, on July 7, 2019 at 6:42 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17
You ladies are my go to when I need to bounce ideas so here we go! I’m having an open bar, reception should start 5:15,5:30ish. We have to be out by 11 (not including clean up) without paying extra. I’d like to have mini chicken and waffles at the end of the night to help sober people up, so I’m debating on the time to close the bar. I’m thinking 9:00 at the latest. What do you guys think?

I don’t think you need to shut down the bar to serve a late night snack. I’ve never been to a wedding where the bar closed more than 30 minutes before the wedding ended, but maybe it’s a regional thing. In our area, when the bar closes, it’s time to start saying goodbyes.

See, I honestly wasn’t sure about that because, and this is no lie, I’ve never been to a wedding that served alcohol. I tried to remember from my club days but that’s been a long time ago lol. So basically we could start serving the late snacks like around 9:00 and close the bar 10:00/10:30?

I agree with not closing the bar more than 30 minutes before the end of the reception, unless you want people to leave early.

I’d close the bar like 30 mins before send off... I’m pretty sure that’s what we are doing too. I love the late night snack idea! Yumm!

Definitely don’t close the bar until 30 mins before the end of the night. It should be a standard “last call” a half hour before the reception is over. I would serve the late night snack around 930 depending on your crowd. Have a great wedding!

I wouldn't count on it sobering anyone up, but it is super fun! We are serving late night snacks (mini hot dogs) at 9:30 PM before guests leave at 10:30 PM.

Lol you’re probably right, but at least I helped some...ok a tiny bit. Oh shoot, I just wanted an excuse to have chicken and waffles and it makes it sound good with the hubby 🤷🏽‍♀️

At my venue (with an 11 pm curfew) bar closes at 10:45 so I feel like 9 pm may be too early but that is just my opinion.. maybe 10 pm?

Agree on closing the bar 30 minutes before you want guests to leave. If it's hard getting folks out the door (depends on your crowd), close the bar at 10 instead of 10:30. Late night snack won't sober them up, but it's still fun to do (I'm doing it too). I'd do it about 30-45 minutes before last call.

We are closing our bar an hour before the end of the night (per our contract because of liability), but I totally get wanting to make sure your guests get home safely. Perhaps serve them right before last call so it's something they can still enjoy even though it's not alcohol (Because who doesn't like chicken and waffles?)

Hmmmm now serving right before last call is definitely an idea. I think I like that.
