Late night snack?

Caitlin, on August 7, 2022 at 12:59 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

Hey everyone!

So I'm torn on adding a late-night snack station to our catering package. Do you think it's necessary? We are having a dessert bar so that people have more options other than cake to eat. Dinner will start around 6:15 pm and the wedding ends at 10.

I personally do not think you need it. Your dinner won't even be over until 7:00 or so followed by dessert.

It’s a great touch if it’s doable and affordable, but if not it’s no big deal. Definitely not necessary, and definitely not worth breaking the bank over

So we had a nacho bar as our late snack because we had to spend x amount on food/drinks per our agreement with venue who provided the catering and we were expecting more to attend our wedding than what actually did so in order to meet our required amount the easiest option was to add the late night snack. But unless you really want to offer a late night snack I don't think it's necessary.

Late night snack is optional, and I don't think you need to worry about it.

6-10 is 4 hours. Think back to other parties you have hosted. Do you serve a different snack right as guests are leaving at those times? If the dinner is at normal time (5-7pm) and the reception ends before midnight, a late night snack is not necessary. If you have a buffet dinner, there may be leftovers that you are trying to get rid of and anyone who is still hungry can fill up another plate. But otherwise it’s not necessary. A late night snack is best suited for a reception that goes past 2am.

Thanks so much, everyone! It sounds like this is something I can skip. I'm going to have a coffee and tea station with the dessert bar which I think will be just fine.
