Late 90s, Early 2000s music

Powers2, on May 8, 2017 at 5:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 39

I'm starting to compile a play list/ guide list for my DJ. I know I have a lot of time but good music is really important to me (it's top three for us along with food and booze).

I'm having an evening reception with a heavily party atmosphere- our guest are 80% friends (so we are all in our 30s and 40s) so the late 90s/ early 2000s is very coming of age for this group.

What rap, hip hop r&b or dance song from this time frame makes you lose your mind and shake your ass with no abandon to?

No country music pls.

I love the 90's pop radio. It will give you some great songs to write down. I'll attach some of my likes.

    Thank you @faithd

I have a list that I've made from online playlists, but I'm wondering if I'm forgetting anything (all of the online lists have a lot of the same songs on them)

You also can't go wrong with Missy Elliott, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Green Day, and Smash Mouth. If you want a little earlier 90's Nirvana is always a classic you can go to. I hope this helps out!

Whooo! Hip Hop from early 2000s is totally my thing!! Loved that music at our wedding. Here are a few that immediately come to mind! (All edited versions please lol)

One thing I did realize when marrying someone born and raised in California, is depending which part of the U.S you are from will determine your taste in hip hop music. I'm from the south, so sourthern rap/hip hop from Louisiana and Atlanta is huge out here in Texas. So..that's my little disclaimer in the event you're from West Coast/ East Coast vs South.

Back that Thang up - Juvenile

    Get Low - Lil Jon

Snap Yo fingers - Lil Jon

What they gon' do- Lil Jon

Shake That Monkey by Too Short

Salt Shaker - Ying Yang Twins

    Hey Ya - Outkast

    Get Busy- Sean Paul

    YEAH - Usher

    Hot in Here - Nelly

    Big Pimpin - Jay Z

Lean Wit It Rock Wit It - Dem Franchise Boyz

    Laffy Taffy - D4L

Turn me On - Keving Lyttle

It’s Goin Down - Yung Joc

    What's your Fantasy - Ludacris

In Da Club - 50 cent

Drop it like its Hot - Snoop Dogg

She get it from her Momma - Juvenile

Get your Roll on - Big Tymers

There it go - Juelz Santana

It's more early 90s, but who doesn't start bobbing their heads when "What is Love?" by Haddaway comes on?
