Last minute invites

Kimmy, on March 3, 2020 at 7:20 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

My wedding has 80% of guests flying in (all domestic though). Our catering has a minimum and we are already on the edge of that. We'd have to pay for all that catering anyway.

If this coronavirus scares people from traveling, I might consider inviting some local friends that I didn't invite. It would be last minute invite if this happens, maybe 1-2 weeks before the wedding. I don't really care about the wedding etiquette. I'm just going to be honest with those friends, some of them I met after I started wedding planning. If they want to come and hangout, that's awesome. I don't expect gifts from them. If they don't want to come, no problem either. What do you guys think?

If you don’t mind the etiquette and are honest with them about it then just go for it! After all it’s a nice idea to celebrate your union with you. However as you may be aware of, some people might get offended by being invited later. But if they can and decide to come then that’s all good too.

If you don’t care that it would be rude, then I don’t see any other issues.

I agree with this right here. They may choose to not come if they feel they were an after thought.

I'd say go for it! In normal circumstances, this would be considered rude...but these are not normal circumstances! I would imagine that these local friends would be thrilled and excited to attend!

I probably wouldn't explain it to them. But I also wouldn't require they RSVP either.

Since you don't care about etiquette, go for it.
