Last minute California License

Risa, on August 23, 2020 at 7:53 AM Posted in California Planning 0 2

Hey there!

We live in NY and my fiancé's family is in LA. It's looking less and less likely that his family is going to be able to get here in October for our wedding that had been postponed from May. We are going to be in LA for his grandma's 100th birthday LDW and we're thinking of getting legally married in CA and then having our religious ceremony in NY in October with my family. In NY we are registered to get our marriage license over zoom. Is that an option in CA? From what I'm understanding it's an in person pick up by appointment. Can I just have someone confirm this information for me and the likelihood of getting an appointment for a week and a half out?

Thanks!

I had to make an appt for our marriage license and they are only taking appointments 30 days out, I'm in Ventura County. I would call to find out for LA County.

Thanks! yes I've been calling around all day... I shouldn't be surprised since we made our NY one so far in advance but it seems LA you need to be a resident (which he still has his license) but there and Orange County are all booked as well as even san Fransisco I thought maybe we could do video there.... I'll try Ventura County next but it's starting to look like a slim chance. Going to have to make a new forum thinking of ideas of something to do in California to make it feel like his family was a part of it a new way!
