Las Vegas??

Toni, on December 24, 2018 at 6:52 PM Posted in Nevada Planning 0 17
Anybody planning a destination wedding in Las Vegas? We were originally going to do a cabin but the specific one will be under construction on our dates so we were thinking about the MGM Grand!
Looking for advice on how to plan and how other people’s experiences were here? Extra credit if you have experiences at the MGM Grand! Thanks!!

Hey Toni! While I haven't gotten married at the MGM Grand, I would definitely suggest looking into it! I've stayed there once or twice, and it was awesome. It's very centrally located on the strip and they've got an awesome pool/spa joint.

I found a couple of discussions on WeddingWire that might be useful in your planning. I'll link them below.

Ceremony & Reception in MGM Grand Terrace Suite

Any tips for ceremony in the skyline terrace suite at mgm Grand Lv?

If you can go out there before your wedding, I would suggest it, but that's because I'm one of those people who likes to see what I have to work with. I would also check in on TripAdvisor and similar sites and see if there are any tips or tricks there. How far are you traveling for your Vegas destination wedding?

We got married at Mandalay Bay and it was SO EASY. I'm sure it would be the same at MGM Grand. I do recommend hiring your photographer (best decisions we made) we used Marry Me in LV and he was FANTASTIC (So much cheaper then the one provided by the hotel) let me know if you have any questions Smiley smile We had been to Vegas before but did not visit while planning the wedding and it was perfect!

If you don’t mind me asking how much did you overall spend on the ceremony? Was it just you two? And did they include a room? We’ve been to Vegas before but it cost an arm and a leg and hoping we can get a few deals this time Smiley smile they include floral, photography, music & 3 wedding planners (1 throughout and 2 for day of) in my ceremony for $1800 and we are going to hire a photographer for a couple hours to get a few pictures on the strip being less serious

They up charge FOR EVERYTHING. We ended up spending about $4k on the wedding itself (it did include a room but of course we upgraded because we decided to do a in suite reception that we hosted ourselves). We also had too many people which forced us to have a rehearsal (more &dollarSmiley winking and I upgraded my bouquet (because I'm apparently extra like that HAHA). If we would have stuck to using the chapel it would have probably been around $2k (we LOVED the valley of the falls location) but the chapel would have included 26 ceremony photos (we couldn't use our photographer for the ceremony and honestly the 26 was enough for us) also included a smaller bouquet for me and his boutonnière, the wedding planner (which ended up with 1 throughout and 2 the day before and day of) also included a pianist (my flowers made me seem extra but the pianist was included? Ooook haha) a DVD copy of the wedding, they did set up extra chairs (which according to the thing I had should have cost extra but they didn't charge us) also toasting flutes and I can't think of what else but it wasn't too bad. Honestly would have been a lot cheaper if we didn't have as many people come but we also have a terrible time not inviting people who wanted to come. We had about 50-60 guests.

Edit to add: I just remembered it also included a limo ride to get our marriage license which was pretty cool since we would have just taken a taxi we kept claiming we were VIPs LOL!!!!

We actually moved to MGM Signature after the wedding (in the back part of the hotel by the pool) and we found really great deals for that on AirBNB

Awesome! I want to try really hard to keep the wedding itself around or under 3k but no guarantees in Vegas! We will have more like 10-15 guests so it might be a tad healer but it sounds like our wedding packages are similar! Mine includes a pianist as well! So extra 😂 also who did your hair and makeup? We can upgrade our package and get it included but I don’t know if it’s worth it!

Small question: I noticed you said it was expensive to have the photos through the hotel, my package includes an hour of photography plus 24 4x6 prints and 2 8x10 prints and I was wondering did your package include something like this too? And did you still have to pay on top of that? I know for mine you get prints but for digital images on a disk it’s an extra $150

Both hotels are run by the same company so I wouldn't be surprised if they are pretty similar plus side is I can tell you it was SOOOO EASY to work with them!!!

I did outside make-up (and my MOH did my hair lol!!) I used Las Vegas Hair and Make up which was I think around $200 or $250 for 2 people (myself and my mom) it was great she just came to the room it was so easy (and she was wonderful. The only thing with it being a DW is it's hard not having any trials but they were wonderful and did an excellent job)

Our photographer actually came an hour before and then waited an hour while we did the wedding and after photos with the hotel photographer and then did shots around the strip and in our suite for about 2 1/2 hours afterwards. That came to just under $800 total and included the rights to all the photos (it was such a great deal compared to other people we were looking at and he was so responsive I'd totally recommend both places)

That's exactly what mine was. But it ended up being something like $1100 for a copy with the rights after it was all said and done (not happening) also if we wanted extra photography it was like $150/hour plus $225 off site fee.

To purchase just 1 - 4x6 outside what we were given is $10. I'm assuming their photographer is cashman and I have read on other posts for Vegas this is pretty standard pricing for them.

Omg $1100?! That’s insane!! I figured If it was that crazy then I would just stick with the 26 prints I bought with the package and do my photographer on the strip and call it a day haha. I hope I don’t get totally screwed 😂😂😂😅 totally nervous

Haha ya we were shocked but we stuck with the 26 prints that came with it and were actually pretty happy with that. We liked our photos from around the strip more plus we have the DVD so it worked out 😊

My husband sometimes will out of no where go "Can you believe they wanted $1100 for the rights? Imagine if we used them around the strip what it would have cost!!" 😂 He has thanked me a lot for finding the second photographer and said it was the best deal lol

I am so planning my wedding in August. We settled on the Tropicana. Getting married this summer, August 10 at 6:30. The ceremony is pretty all inclusive. We just need to figure out where we are going to hold the reception. We was hoping to keep the wedding at 50 people but its adding up fast. So far we are looking at about 65-70 guests.

We are thinking of getting married at Caesar's Palace with the Cleopatra package, bringing in our own photographer though. Looking at October 2020.

We had about 40 people including the wedding party. I loved the outdoor location but there was an up charge.... We got married on a Monday so it wasn't as bad as if we got married Thurs-Sat so that's something to keep in mind too (plus the rate on the suite for the after party was much better) we also ended up getting married on Columbus day (not intentional) but that actually helped with guests who wanted to come out because a lot didn't have to work on Monday (so maybe something else to think about? A not big holiday but enough for it to be a day off for people?)
