Lake wedding guest attire

Soon to be FRY, on December 28, 2016 at 10:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

I'm getting married on a lake in July that is very popular year round but especially in the summer. The venue closes off the surrounding area to non-wedding guests, but I'm just wondering how to word attire requests (semi-formal,

Formal, etc) I want people to dress nicely but it's a very laid back venue. Thoughts?

Don't say anything. Let your guests dress themselves.

You are soon to be bombarded by WW comments. You can't tell an adult how to dress ect ect. If you want your event to be semi formal put it on your wedding website and try to make invites formal.

Don't tell people how to dress. I used my invitations, engagement photos, and wedding website (with pics of the venue) to sort of give people a feel of the formality of the event. But no matter what, people are going to wear whatever they want to wear. You don't need to worry about their wardrobe, let them worry about it.

I feel like it is disrespectful to not dress nicely for a wedding. You are spending hundreds or thousands on your dress, the least people can do is throw on a button up and some khakis. I would try word of mouth and like the other comments said, set the tone with your invitations make sure they know it's formal.
