Lake Tahoe

Amanda, on July 10, 2020 at 2:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hey guys! I’m eloping next March in Lake Tahoe. A photographer friend of mine that we’re going to have to do a lot of hiking. I’m worried now because how am I supposed to hike in a wedding dress?! Also, I’m worried about getting sweaty because I know my fiancée will be drenched. Does anyone have any advice or has married in Lake Tahoe before? I would appreciate it! Thank you!

Is there a way you can change into your dress once you're hiked up there? for instance they sell pop up changing tents where you can use to change into your dress

What about makeup and stuff? Won’t that get sweaty and come off? What do you think?

Did you want to have a hiking wedding before you chose your dress? I don't really understand if the "do a lot of hiking" directive is coming from you/your future spouse or the photographer. If it's from the photographer, you can just say no thanks and look for a place to get married that doesn't involve hiking.

March in Tahoe could have a lot of snow or very little, but it will still be cold. So sweating is not really a problem unless you are going to be bundled up in a lot of clothing *and* doing strenuous exercise.

If you haven't chosen a ceremony spot or a dress yet, you have a lot of options. I guess I need more info before giving specific advice.

No that is great advice. If it’s cold in March I should be fine. It came from a friend of mine who is a photographer. I want to get married in Lake Tahoe. It’s gorgeous and perfect for us, but I was just worried about the hiking problem lol

Lake Tahoe is a huge place that covers two states. There are mountains (of course), with thousands of hiking trails of various difficulty levels, beaches, parks, casinos, ski resorts, towns, etc. So you can have a beautiful wedding with strenuous hiking or with no hiking (or anywhere in between), your choice. Choose your own sweat level, as it were. Smiley smile

Maggie is completely right! Tahoe is very big and there are a lot of places to get married. Do you not want to get married at the beach? Do you want to be in the mountains?

Just because you're getting married in Tahoe doesn't mean hiking has to be involved, so I'm a little confused by your friend's statement lol. They have beaches and venues as well. A friend of my got a huge cabin on Airbnb and they got got married on the balcony with a gorgeous backdrop of the mountains and lake. Not sure how many guests you have but there are definitely plenty of options to explore in that area.
