Lace up back/Corset Dresses

Erin, on December 23, 2015 at 8:43 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Are lace up dresses more forgiving??? Corset style seem to fit a variety of sizes and can be flexible. Any experiences ladies??? I am btw sizes with my Sophia Tolli dress, should I size down?? thanks.

They are absolutely more forgiving in certain areas. I actually ended up losing a few pounds the week of my wedding, and my girls just tied my dress a little tighter. I probably wouldn't tell someone to size down if that size is already too tight. You can tie a corset tighter. You cannot make one that is already maxed out looser.

Yes, they can definitely be more forgiving. They basically create a shape for you.

Ask your consultant what she thinks about sizing, but I wouldn't size down. Personal preference thing, but I think it looks so unflattering when the ribbon at the top row spreads so far out over the back.

Omg they are amazing! I never saw myself getting one because I thought they were kind of tacky, but I changed my mind when I saw how awesome I looked in mine. They create a shape and if your weight fluctuates it can be very forgiving.

I'm SO Happy I went with a corset! With zippers, your sizing has to be precise. But a corset will tighten you up more and you will not have to be worried if your dress will fit, because it can go in and out without a problem!!

So far I'm really happy I have a corset back. The consultant measured me between two sizes, and recommended the smaller size because if I end up slightly bigger, it will look better with a wide corset than if I bought larger and had to tighten it all the way if I lost any weight. I love the look it gives my curves, too. My only alterations are a hem and a bustle, too, which is great for my already sad wallet.

Definitely more forgiving. My dress has a corset back and it definitely gives my curves more definition.

I absolutely wish I had my dress altered to have the corset back. As Pancakes said, zippers have to be precise. No room for an extra few or fewer pounds otherwise the fit is off. I stressed hardcore over this. Save yourself the stress.

I was sad my dress has a zipper, and to add the corset to the inside it was going to cost about another $500 (I love the back of my dress and didn't want the corset to take away the detailing) but i always saw my self wearing a corset style dress. Just goes to show that until you try things on you never know what you will love!
