Hey everyone - I love my wedding dress, especially the front and waist line. I think the back is ok and I would be fine with it the way it is, but I've always wanted an open back dress. It currently is an illusion back dress with lace appliques across the back and buttons down the middle. I was wondering if anyone had experience with removing lace appliques on their wedding dress or with making a dress have an open back that started with a full back?

My dress had the full back that you're describing. My seamstress was able to make it an open back without any issue. Good luck!

Hi Colleen,
Did the store/designer you bought your dress from offer any alterations? Do you have a local seamstress that you love to use?

Your seamstress will have to remove the illusion fabric and just replace it. Pretty simple

Were you able to make this happen? My daughter too would like the illusion material and buttons removed and have just the open back
