Labels for Save the Dates

Brittany, on January 16, 2018 at 7:44 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24
Hey everyone! I’m trying to get some feedback about doing clear labels for the save the dates... is this tacky or frowned upon? I tried printing the addresses directly on the envelopes, but of course my printer won’t do it on small envelopes! My handwriting isn’t good enough to handwrite them. What are your thoughts?? Thanks!

Envelopes ultimately end up in the wastebasket. The purpose is simply to get them to that address. Labels are quick and there's no question to if they'll be legible!

I think it may look good. I may do clear also. If you decide to go with clear, please share how you like or dislike.

We did clear glossy labels. It was better than our awful handwriting or the smudging from printer ink (our envelopes didn’t absorb printer ink well). For us, personally, it wasn’t worth the cost of hiring a calligrapher for STDs or invitations, but it really is a personal preference.

I agree. It’s not worth the extra money in my opinion!

So true! I’m trying to be mindful of the little details, but I think you’re right that no one will really notice Smiley smile

Save the dates are just an informal heads up. We used regular white labels and no one cared.

I did this for my STDs. They're informal so labels are totally fine.

I think labels on STDs are fine. I wouldn't use them for wedding invitations though.

I used clear labels with a cursive but legible font for invites- my circle doesn’t do calligraphy and my handwriting is terrible. Worked out just fine and honestly looked better than most invites I’ve received in the past.

You can hand write them or print the addresses straight on the envelope, anything that looks neat and more formal than labels.

There are a couple options. I ordered my invites from Minted and they will address print for you. I think you can just order envelopes from them (and have them printed) and get your invites somewhere else. You can also get a calligrapher. Also the envelopes for you invites will prob be bigger and might fit in your printer better than the STD ones.

We used labels for our invites after our printer stopped working on envelopes. No one will even notice the font or formatting on the envelopes--it's a personal decision but I was glad to save my stress for something else.

I used clear labels for my save the dates and they looked just fine. People throw away the envelopes anyways so it's not a big deal.

I did the clear labels for save the dates. They were a bit larger than a normal address label, more like a shipping label and I changed the font to a more formal looking one. With the larger size label I could make the text bigger which looked more proportional to the envelope.

There are many wraparound labels on Etsy. I'm thinking about using those for my invites since I have the same problem. They are more formal than the plain clear labels.

    Example: https://www.etsy.com/listing/179603192/personalized-mailing-address-labels-for?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=wraparound%20address%20labels&ref=sr_gallery-1-1

We used matte clear labels with a fancy cursive font for our invites- all we heard was how nice our invites looked- no-one cared about the labels.
