I personally am considering asking my SO to get me an engagement ring with a lab grown diamond instead since they are so much cheaper and the processor which they are made is fascinating.

I personally think lab grown diamonds cost way too much for being not natural. They test as real and the chemical composition is mostly the same but they come with some key differences. Usually only a trained gemologist could tell. First of all the inclusions are much different and really stand out because they are like weird flecks of metal almost. Also, they grow differently depending on which of the 2 lab methods were used. The resale value is also crap and doesn't hold as well as natural mined (although you shouldn't pay retail for either because like a new car it's value drops a lot as soon as you take it off the lot lol). It's a good option if you're on a budget. Your savings won't be that much though so I personally would just buy used or a loose diamond from a place like ebay and pay the same as you would for a new lab diamond (and sometimes even less! )

I’m not a diamond person to begin with but I would never wear a mined diamond because of the history of zero ethics and many atrocities associated with the industry. Lab created diamonds are prettier anyway at a fraction of the price. Unless you are a gemologist, no one will notice or care what the difference is, nor is it their business.

I LOVE mine from Modern Gents Trading Co! It looks so real and because it's so affordable I plan on getting multiple different ones so I can change the style whenever I want. I couldn't justify spending thousands of dollars on a piece of jewelry I may lose at some point.

There are minute, (but occasionally distinguishable), differences in lab vs man made diamonds. But there’s nothing I’ve seen/read that would turn me away from lab grown diamonds from a reputable source. I probably won’t ever buy MMDs again now that the prices of lab diamonds have come down and quality has gone up. I just ordered a 7 stone band from JA that uses lab diamonds and I’m waiting for it to arrive. If you head over to pricescope there’s a lot of great information about lab diamonds, reputable vendors, photos, testimonials, etc.

I have a lab grown diamond as well and absolutely love it! You can get so much more for your money and because they have the same properties as a diamond, it’s just as hard as a diamond and no one can tell the difference. The GIA also certifies lab diamonds which is great. Here is a photo of mine along with a lab grown blue sapphire. Lab Grown vs. Natural Mined Diamonds? 1

I have a lab grown diamond mainly for ethical reasons. With any diamonds, if they have less light leakage, they will sparkle a lot, like in my case. I actually lucked out on this one because the first diamond we got, it wasn't as sparkly as the second one, but then again, we also went with a higher clarity. As far as the resale value goes, it's not an issue. We don't plan on selling it. Also, he didn't want to propose with any other stones other than a diamond so that left us with a lab grown. Honestly, I couldn't be any happier. But I would probably talk to an expert if you were to buy it online because despite having a 360-video, you can't really tell if it's cloudy. And oh, I also plan on getting a lab grown band.

Since it has been a few months, what did you guys go with?

For the price of 1ct mined diamond ring, I got a stunning stunning 3CT oval lab-diamond.

It's cheaper, more ethical, and better quality.

For me its a no brainer!

I'm going to congratulate my sweetheart on our wedding anniversary. Here I can not figure out what kind of stone ring to buy. I am considering either a ring with a real diamond or a piece (lab). Which ring would you choose? I kind of read up and realized that a lab diamond is no different than a regular diamond and it's cheaper. I've read a lot of posts and I see that opinions are divided. But still, why is a regular diamond more expensive than a lab diamond? And I also want to ask the beautiful half of this forum, do you like this ring? Or maybe you should change it? It looks a lot like a proposal ring. But it is so delicate, just like my wife)

I did buy her a ring with an emerald lab grown diamond and am very happy with the purchase. I am already looking forward to the day when I will have to give it to her. The ring is a little different than the one in the photo. But the stone on it is just perfect. I will not show you the ring, I will let you know after I give it to her, if anyone is interested. But you can see what stone it is. After all, I decided to buy a lab-grown stone. It is cheaper and looks no different from a regular one. I even took a friend of mine, who works in the field, to see the stone and he said it was as good as a regular diamond.

I can always identify the diamonique (QVC brand) from a diamond because Diamonique sparkles more than any diamond. My set is all lab created and I absolutely love it. It sparkles, it was affordable, and the setting is perfectly me (moons and stars with lab created sapphires). I will never understand putting thousands of dollars into jewelry when there are so many stones out there that are just as beautiful as diamonds. Do you, nothing wrong with it at all!
