Kwr- who is starting/started a new job before their wedding?

I was offered a position at an amazing company- and accepted yesterday (woo!) I'm nervous about timing- has anyone else started a new job before their wedding? They asked if I wanted to start after we returned from the honeymoon but I'm too damn anxious!

I started my current job in February, and getting married in June, so not really like super close. But still. In my province the policy is no vacation until after 1 year 3 months of employment, so I am not able to take any time off before/after the wedding. Which kind of sucks but also... I am really over the whole wedding thing at this point so I don't really care. Smiley smile

Sounds like your new job is open to working with you if you need time off though, so that's good. Congrats on the new job!!! Smiley smile

    Congrats!

My fiancée is graduating from college in two weeks. We're anticipating that we're both going to be starting new jobs before the wedding, mainly because her area of expertise doesn't have any possibilities in our current city and we're probably going to be moving. I think it's exciting (I love moving.), but I'll be very sad to leave my current job, which has been very good to me.

Congrats! I am in the same boat. On Monday I was offered a new job. My wedding is next Saturday. Luckily they are being very flexible. They are letting me work part time at both jobs the two weeks after the wedding. Then we are gone for a week on our honeymoon, and I start full-time June 1. It is completely insane – but I guess this is what was in the cards all along! It will just be a very fresh start for us! Yay!!

My wedding is still over a year out but I start my first real job in June. It's exciting and scary at the same time but the job is going to allow us to hopefully bump up the savings plan and get this wedding paid in full much sooner. Congrats ladies!

I will be looking for a new job after the wedding. I graduated 3/31 and struggled with the decision to look for a job or not. I decided to wait until after the wedding because I would have to move to another city for the jobs in my field, and we wanted to take off a lot of time for our honeymoon and I didn't want to compromise on our travel plans, also I really needed the time to sew my wedding gown. Hopefully I can use my wedding gown in my portfolio (fashion design). After the wedding, before the honeymoon I will be working on the move. My career counselor is VERY upset with my decision. I hope her dire warnings aren't right.

Wedding is in about 60 days and I'm just finishing school this week then I have a week externship then I begin finding a job. I'm hopeful I can begin and just let them know during the interview about wedding and honeymoon booked time.

I started my job in November. HR knew about the wedding & time off but my direct supervisor didn’t. I told him in January. Unfortunately, since I hadn’t been here for 6 months, I couldn’t get PTO for the time off. It sucked because it was so close to May when I would have been approved! I talked to my boss and he said he could give me 2 PTO days out of the 8 that I took off. I was very thankful for that. Just be up front with them and all should be good! And congrats on your new job!!! Smiley smile

@AndixLyn, I'm sure it will be fine. Congrats to everyone that got new jobs! I agree, all this is very exciting.

My own situation was that I'm marrying a teacher that wants to do an epic 3 week vacay before we settle down, so I wouldn't feel right working for 3 weeks in a job and then basically asking for a month off. Hopefully HR people understand, and it doesn't make me look too "flighty."

That's great! I started a new job in feb. It's been crazy but I finally love what I do Smiley smile I actually will be making more than my old job so that's helpful for the wedding. I'm still a bundle of nerves to write down my days off for the wedding and honeymoon though. They know I'm getting married and all, but it doesn't make it any less nerve racking for me.

We are both starting new jobs before the wedding. FH and I are graduating in 9 and 16 days. He has a job lined up to begin immediately after graduation. I need to finish a few classes during summer, but will then proceed to look for a job.
