Hi all!

My parents 25th wedding anniversary is this year, and they have never been on vacation together--not a honeymoon and never even a vacation with our family and my siblings; they've literally never been on vacation.

So my mom was talking to me about wanting to go on one for their anniversary but a few weeks later they had a financial emergency with our dog and now they won't be able to go. So my FH and I want to gift them this "honeymoon they never had."

We're hoping to ask family, friends, etc to contribute if they can (and if not, they can write a card for them) and present it all to them months before on their birthdays (their bdays are a week apart) so they have time to prepare and stuff.

I'm so excited to give them this because they have given me everything, so I really just wanted to share my excitement!!

Much love!

I don't see anything wrong with asking others if they want to go in on this most awesome gift! We are going in on a TV and entertainment center for my MIL's 80th birthday, and my brother and I often go in on gifts for our step-mom. Your parents will be so excited!!

    Our families do big parties for the "big anniversaries" - 20, 25, 40, 50, 55, 60, etc.

I would think it totally appropriate to send out an email/letter to family and friends on the order of "SHHHH it's a big surprise! We're sending mom and dad to (destination) for their 25th anniversary in lieu of a party. If you would like to contribute towards their trip (enter details here).

Personally, I know my parents got lots of useless "silver anniversary", "Ruby Anniversary", Golden Anniversary" things to dust. Personally, I'd rather have a trip of a lifetime than one more thing to dust.
