Kohls registry

Stacey, on March 23, 2018 at 7:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

Okie doke, so I posted yesterday asking for Target registry experiences and received mostly bad feedback Smiley cry , so now I am looking into Kohls. I don't know anyone who has had a Kohls registry before and would love to hear from people who have!

What was the problem with target if i might ask? We made one and it was pretty simple. You can just walk in and scan everything with your phone. A few things have been discontinued in the short time since we registered though but it didn’t seem to stop people from finding them in store and buying them.

I got feedback from people on this site as well as another forum. Most complaints were of items being discontinued so often that they had to check constantly to make sure items weren't discontinued or out of stock. Other complaints included items not being removed from the registry once they were bought (and receiving duplicates), items being listed as purchased when they were not, shipping errors, and the 10% discount not being applied correctly. I'm so sad, it seemed like such a great option for us!

Have you considered a universal registry from Amazon? Then you could add items from both Target and Khols, but Amazon would register it.

And items will be discontinued at other stores too. My champagne glasses are now discontinued from my Macy's registry, and my wine glasses were soon to be discontinued as well, so I bought myself the last set I needed (a guest had picked up another set) to make sure I got matching glasses.

How does a universal registry work? Do you prepare it on amazon or somewhere else? I have started one with Amazon but was told i should do target or a brick & mortar store too. This sounds like the way to go.

I had items discontinued in my macys registry. Just check in once a month if you can. I wouldn't approach the registry as a one and done thing. As time goes on, you'll add things. When you do that, just do a quick scan of the items on the list and make adjustments.
I will say, my cousins got married years ago and they are still able to make returns to Target using their registry. And that's a really great feature because it does not count towards the return without receipt limit.

Amazon has the directions for the universal registry here: https://www.amazon.com/wedding/mp/universal-registry?ref_=hit_wr_mp_ur

For my browser, I downloaded the Amazon registry button and now when I browse anything on a stores website I can click on the button and it will give me the option to add the item from that specific site/store to the registry. (I figured it out after setting up 3 different smaller registries, Target being one, and in too lazy to combine them now)

Beyond the registry, the browser button also will show you if the exact item is less expensive on Amazon I believe.

We did both Kohl’s and Target! With Target, things were often out of stock or discontinued. With Kohl’s, many of our items were out of stock, but did eventually come back in. However, we have multiples of many different items because not everything that was bought was taken off of our registry. It worked perfectly fine on some things, but there were also 3-4 items that were not marked as “purchased.”

We love our kohls registry. Things go out of stock occassionally. But they always get more in.

I love when couples have a Kohl's registry. I can use my Kohl's cash and discounts to either save money or buy them a bigger gift. Love Kohl's!

We are doing target & amazon. I think that even though the items at target get discountiuned a lot there are still more options than kohls. I love shopping at kohls, but I couldn't really register for enough stuff there in my opinion.

I know I'm joining in on this a little late but I am having major issues with Kohls right now! I have had multiple guests purchase items in store (because if they try to purchase online the only option is to mail it directly to me- which they don't want to do since they want to bring it to the shower!) and then the items are not marked off as purchased on my registry. I just spent a half hour on the phone with customer service- the guy I spoke to was awesome and very nice but even he was unable to mark things as purchased and told me he would write them down so his supervisor could do it. I know I'm going to get multiples of items- which is fine I live right near Kohls but I feel bad for guests who have to sit there while I open the same thing five times. I could remove them entirely but the whole point is to get the kohls cash back afterwards right? So much of a hassle. I love Kohls but I would not recommend having a registry there based on my experience.

I am having the same issue, not one gift has been marked as purchased on the Kohls registry. And I have gotten calls from my mother in law about it b/c she knows things have been purchased. I've had to call and list every time for the customer service as well. So far 5 calls and counting its so frustrating and takes a lot of time. I am worried about repeat gifts a little, but more than that I am worried about gifts not getting sent to me or lost and I have no proof they were purchased so I can't track them down or thank ppl. There are a few other threads on wedding wire about this happening, its scary. I dont want guests to waste money or think I am rude for not thanking them

I am having the same issue- someone ordered 10 items off my registry, all in same order and shipped to me. Only one was taken off. I called today, they finally marked 1 other item as purchased but not the other 8. Every time I asked, is there a way for me to be able to do this myself (like every other registry I’m using!!) they told me how to shop the registry and clear my cookies! I’m like I am the BRIDE!!!

I wish I had seen this BEFORE I made a wedding registry with them! Got married about 20 days ago now, (ish) and from being locked out of my wedding registry online, to not being able to find it on their website (me and multiple family members), to complaining to the store manager who said she'd call me once she spoke to corporate and now to this: we received a wedding gift with no idea who is it from! It has my address on it, no invoice or reference number, just a FedEx tracking number. I got off the phone with Kohl's customer service (don't get me wrong, he was super nice) but not at all helpful in telling me who it was from, just a "i'm sorry." If there is a clear tracking number on this box, how come you cannot tell me who it is from? I asked hi if he could pull up my registry and try that way, and he said he could only view my account, that he didn't have access to the registries. What a joke! I even went into the store (AGAIN), and the woman at the customer service counter told me there was nothing she could do for more, that they know it is a problem and she feels bad for all brides who create a kohl's registry! it is beyond ridiculous and I am seriously considering canceling my Kohl's charge, just to be done with them for good! I agree, what a nightmare! Future brides, be warned!!!
