Knee Pain - High Heel Alternatives

Laurissa, on August 3, 2020 at 1:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

So I'm getting married on Saturday (come on world, hold it together for 5 more days!!) and I tweaked my knee last week. My dress is hemmed to 3" heels and I'm worried I won't be able to wear them due to the pain (plus I don't want to do any lasting damage just to look good in photos!). Thoughts on alternatives? My cousin (who's a PT) had recommended platform flipflops, but I also have bad feet and my podiatrist said no flip flops. So... anyone know of any cute platform tennis shoes lol? Or maybe I could just pin my dress up so I don't trip on it? I'm hoping to wear it again next year at our second wedding and I don't really have time now to get it completely rehemmed. With all my other worries (fires, thunderstorm, another shutdown, positive Covid test) bad knees had never even crossed my mind! Arrrghh.

Look up "platform tennis shoes" on Google and browse there. You could buy some and make them cuter by going to a craft store and purchasing some glue and loose glitter to make them look like the Kate Spade wedding sneakers. Otherwise, you could get somebody talented to paint something on a white canvas pair. You have some options, though, so don't worry! Good luck Smiley smile

They do make platform tennis shoes. You can look online for them. If you plan to skip the heels, then the dress would need to be altered to the height of your new shoes or pinned if sewing isnt an option.

You could definitely do the platform tennis shoes or maybe a wedge heel?? Do you think a wedged heel would hurt it too much?? If so you could do the platform tennis show and dazzle it up!! I hope your knee gets healed!! Also congratulations that's exciting!!

I'm getting married on Saturday, too! Platform tennis shoes exist, but especially with an unstable knee, I would almost certainly sprain at least one ankle trying to wear them. If it were me, I'd wear wedge heels (ideally a comfortable brand like Aerosoles or Clarks) and a knee brace/KT tape.

Ended up taping with KT tape and going with cowboy boots so I at least had some heel. Dress was a bit long but I managed. Silver lining was that my feet didn't hurt at the end of the day like they would have if I'd worn normal heels!
