Kleinfeld... Worth it?

I'm considering to go to Kleinfeld Bridal, but I've been hearing very mixed things about them. My budget is $2000, so I don't know if it will be worth it for me. I also don't want to be pressed to buy a dress like car salesman do. Also, does anyone know of nice Bridal stores in Michigan? I'm having...

Also, does anyone know of nice Bridal stores in Michigan? I'm having trouble finding some!

I love Kleinfelds, and I love Randy. We worked together on a great wedding a few years ago.

That being said? I wouldn't fly in to shop there, though many people do. And Jo is right; 2000 is on the very low end for Kleinfelds.

The only reason it would be worth it to fly in to shop there would be if you had a giant dress budget and wanted dresses that could only be found there. I would not fly anywhere to try on a dress when I could put the money I would have spent on travel toward the dress.

I went to Kleinfeld's and I was really underwhelmed with the selection. I had a budget around yours and everything was just kinda meh. I did get free champagne so yay? Also my consultant keep pulling dresses I didn't like and made me feel weird if I didn't like what she pulled. Like it didn't understand fashion or something.

I'd only go if I was going to be on the show lol. I live an 8 hour drive and my cousin wanted to take me so badly, but my budget was wayyy too low to even think about it

Not budget shaming anyone in either direction- but given what I know... I wouldn't personally go to Klienfields unless I had a 5K plus budget- and even then- I'd be probably self conscious about it.

Definitely not. Try Chicago if you're struggling in Michigan and want a fun "experience" but I'm sure there are lovely dress places in Michigan too!

I love Patty's in Quincy, MI. Patty's was on my short list for dress shopping options.

I am in Michigan and I got my dress from the greatest store around - Bombshell Bridal. - Much better then kleinfields ever could be.

They are for plus size brides though. - Another great one is Piera's in Shelby Township.

@MrsFallBride - A lot of us Michiganders add s's to things that don't even need it on accident. lol

There is a wonderful Bridal Salon in Rochester Hills, the name of the boutique is Bellissima. The wedding dresses there are gorgeous. Give them a try, the phone number is 1-248-601-8700. Maybe you can call and speak with someone.

@MFB ehhhh I can kinda see where people are coming from with the comments.

I don't really watch it anymore (I really stopped watching it before I got engaged) but every time I see an episode of SYTTD and a bride comes in with a budget of ~$3k, the consultants seem to go into panic mode trying to find SOMETHING so they can make the sale. It gives off the impression that they don't have much to offer unless you're looking at ~$5k and up. I think that's just the reputation that they've created for themselves from the TV show, which is what most people in the US have to go on.

But based on your experience, maybe OP should give it a shot.

If you really want Hayley Paige, I suggest you find a trunk show in your area...that will save you a few hundred dollars. I think you can definitely find something in Michigan and, like others said, save the money you would have spent on the trip. I'm an hour and a half from Kleinfeld and chose to shop near home. So much more convenient. Can drive there and go after work easily.

I live in Michigan and I found my dress at Bridal by Viper in Birch Run I don't know how far out you live from there BUT the trip is well worth it! Their staff, designer selection and prices are amazing! I had the same budget as you and I found my dream dress for 1800 with a four bone hoop skirt in addition to the dress.

With a 2k budget? I don't think it's worth it. Save the money you would spend on traveling and add that to your budget and find a place more local and convenient for you. I went to Kleinfeld and although my experience was great, I didn't buy my dress there.

JSarge- herm- I went to RK and I had someone helping me- she pulled all my gowns for me- I just stood there and got naked and unnaked for an hour. I didn't wait for a room either. but we got there early on like a Thursday I think.

    I had a good time.

But I couldn't imagine doing it alone with no help. We walked from the bridal side to the evening wear side and that was exactly what it was- "fend for yourself" essentially. It was hard after over an hour of gown shopping already to go dig through racks of evening wear that were done by color- not even by size.

Mimi's Bridal in Ypsilanti carries Haley Paige. They can be pushy but the dresses are well priced and they are very respectful of budget.

I would have loved to go to kleinfields. I am about a 3 hour drive from New York City but it wasn't worth it. I'm sure my beaded and lace dress that was. $1500 would have been like 4K at kleinfelds and really who is going to know. Not like going to be walking around your wedding telling everyone it's from kleinfelds. I'd keep it local. Plus what about alterations you'd have to go back a few times unless you were to find a reputable one in your area.
