Kleinfeld sample sale-worth it?

MrsMet, on November 3, 2016 at 12:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I already got my dress (not at Kleinfeld), but I need all the accessories (shoes, belt, veil, jewelry). I had major sticker shock on the accessories when I bought my dress, so I was considering checking out Kleinfeld's sample sale in December. My only hesitation is that you have to buy a ticket for it (the cost of which gets credited toward your purchase), but I was curious if anyone has been to one of their sales and how the experience/selection was.

Good luck, that place is already a mad house. I could only imagine how crazy it'll be. I was going to get my veil there but the veil was $1,000 and I was like "Oh hell no!" and the belt I tried with one of the dresses cost $900.

I doubt it's worth the trip. Do you live in NYC though? I think it's one of those places that the average bride would love to go look around in, but is mostly out of budget for everyone. Granted, some people can afford it, but I would have a hard time paying the prices they want for some of their items.

ETA: I also hate that they make you "pay" to get into the store. I know you can put it towards a purchase, but if you don;t find anything then you are SOL. =/

A vote for not worth it. Just watching the show when they have the sample sale gives me anxiety. Not sure what you are looking for but check etsy for some cheaper accessories. I know a ton of people have had awesome luck on there!

I don't think it's worth it, personally. I would check if your bridal shop, or any others in the area, are having accessory trunk shows. The shop by my work happened to have a Bel Aire Bridal trunk show, and that's how I got my veil, headpiece, and belt. It was a great deal. You can also ask if your bridal shop offers discounts on accessories, sometimes they will do that for brides who bought their gown there.

@OG Britanny I live in north Jersey, so I'm close to the city and go in frequently. I totally agree about the paying thing though-I'd feel obligated to buy something to get my investment back...but I figured I'd ask in case anyone found any really spectacular deals!

@DT I have been looking at some veils on Etsy, so that's definitely an option!

@ChristinaNYC Isn't it crazy? The belt I tried on with my dress (at RK Bridal) was $800!

@snowangel That's good to know! I wasn't thinking of trunk shows for accessories as much. I'll definitely ask about that at the shop where I bought my dress and check out some smaller boutiques too.

OP - Check Etsy! Literally almost all my accessories have come from all over the world. My beaded belt came from Ireland for less than $50, my BM robes came from China, my veil(s) came from China and Texas (couldn't decide), my unity candles came from eBay, and something I bought came from Lithuania (can't remember what it was though,) Just give yourself plenty of time for shipping, but you can find some really great deals on accessories on there.

@md421 accessory trunk shows definitely aren't as common, but I would call around to some shops and ask. The way I found out about mine was that I was obsessed with a Bel Aire belt on Pinterest, and when I went to their website to see about ordering they had a list of their upcoming trunk shows. So if there are any accessory brands or designers you like you can also research that way. You might also get a good deal if you shop the bridal suites in department stores like Macy's and Nordstroms around Black Friday, but north jersey malls on Black Friday are probably just as much of a madhouse as a Kleinfeld's sample sale lol.

Just curious.. how much do you have to pay to get in? Do you know if their sales are good? Regardless, I would definitely feel obligated to make a purchase to make up for the ticket.

@Katie D. The price starts at $50 for the first day and go down as the sale continues (the very last time on the 2nd day is $25).

Check to see if there are any bridal consignment shops in your area! You can find really nice accessories for a nicer price.

Kleinfield is overrated if you are going just for accessories; you can find nice or even better accessories in other bridal shops. If you was going for a dress, then that is a different story

I got shoes on Amazon for $50. Sash at DB for $16, and veil there as well for $70. My jewelry came from part there on clearance ($10), and part heirloom. I wouldn't waste my time there. There prices are so super inflated, even with a sample sale they will still be higher than places like DB's, etc...
