Kleinfeld hotel block?

Kels3715, on July 11, 2014 at 7:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Has anyone used the Kleinfelds hotel block service? I signed up (it's free!) and they sent me an awesome spreadsheet showing the closest 5 hotels near my venue.

Is it too good to be true that it's really free? Lol I can't imagine a company doing all of that work for free..

Yes! i used them. they get a commission off rooms that are booked, so in the end they are getting paid, just not from you Smiley winking

I tried using them and then got an email with at least 20 other customers emails for everyone to see. I stopped using them because information isn't private with them.n

I was part of that same e-mail blast, but they sent an apology e-mail right away and explained it was a mistake. It's happened to me before so I understood. I decided to use them anyways and got a great deal. I didn't hesitate because I had tried getting rooms on my own and it was taking FOREVER! No one was returning my call or they were super rude on the phone. I e-mailed Kleinfeld, within a few hours someone got back to me with recommendations, then within a couple of days I had rates from 8 different hotels. The contract part was pretty quick too. I think they're more OCD than I am! :-)

It is too good to be true. they boast that they can get you a contract with no financial obligation, but this isn't true. and you pay more for the rooms because they add 10% so they get paid from the hotel. i did this and regret it because i could have just done it myself.

Did anybody get a good deal for B&G suite? Is this even possible to do with a courtesy block?

I was able to get a discounted suite rate with a courtesy block through Kleinfeld Hotel Blocks. I was really happy with their service (a month earlier, I had actually reached out multiple times to the hotel I ultimately chose, and never heard back - but Sara from KHB got info from them in just a couple days).

Here's what I was able to get. I spoke up and asked, and did push on a couple points, but Sara really did a great job of negotiating with the hotel and I'm very happy with the contract.

-50 room block, with 25 rooms the night prior to the wedding

-Breakfast included in the room rate. The hotel does not typically do this and they actually admitted (finally - when I pushed) they couldn't really accommodate all of my guests in their small breakfast cafe, but with Sara's help I got them to reserve a private event space for this instead. So we will basically have a farewell brunch for OOT guests for free.

-In-room wifi included in the rate (usually extra charge)

-Discounted suite rates (not just for bride and groom, but we did specify how many we wanted and which night) - at a pretty decent discount

-One complimentary room for every 20 rooms booked during the whole stay

-All courtesy - no financial obligation on my part whatsoever

I will say that the room rate we got appears to be the hotel's lowest standard rate - not discounted. However, this is also a very busy time of year in a very competitive area for weddings, and I'm pretty sure the non-group rate will increase, so with everything that we got, I feel we locked in a good deal for our guests.
