Kissing Ball Centerpieces, should I?

FutureMrsMerritt, on November 16, 2014 at 3:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Centerpieces! I really would like to do kissing balls with candles and rose petals at the bottom. They can be expensive so I was planning to DIY them. At hobby lobby it is about $3.49 per ball and then $6.29 per cluster of silk flowers. I plan to get candles from the dollar store and decorate the outsides of them and then buy a pack of rose petals ( I might even do real for those.) My thing is I still need the stand and the push pins, the linens and all the rest to decorate the tables. Are kissing balls even worth the DIY or should I look into just candle centerpieces to save money? I don't want to blow a ton of money on these. I need to do only seven tables. I'm looking to order from hobby lobby. These are my inspiration photos: One looks like paper flowers and the other silk.

Soo cute! I would check the dollar store for vases too, sometimes you can get nice ones cheap. Or amazon or ebay. if you don't care that the vases exactly match you could check yard sales to see if people are selling some that are similar

I helped a friend make fabric flower kissing balls and it was a TON of work and takes so much material. I'd start with one to see how you like it, how long it takes and how expensive it is before purchasing enough material for seven. If it sucks and you wind up with just the one, you could incorporate it somewhere else, think guest book table, sweetheart table, bottom of the coat closet. Smiley smile

Also, check the height. This looks like it just might be tall enough to block people from talking across the table.

I DIY our kissing balls, I had them hanging on the aisle chairs & transferred them to our reception for the centerpieces. I got the Styrofoam balls & glue guns from Walmart & Michaels Arts. For the flower heads I used roses from Dollar Tree. They looked beautiful and some of my guests took them home. I agree with SJ, it can be costly, so look for sales. I had 3 friends to help me during the weekends. You have the time, go for it.
