Kids?

Shay, on April 7, 2022 at 9:59 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 3 7
Hey y'all! So I am currently making a rough draft of our guest list, and my FH reminded me that a lot of our guests will have kids. I have a son who will be our ring bearer, and his nieces are our flower girls. I saw an idea a while back about doing an activity table for the smaller kids during the ceremony and reception.... Has anyone tried this or seen this work? Thanks y'all!

We are not having small kids there because the ones that have kids is in my wedding party and plus we decided this. Plus we don't want the ceremony interrupted but there will be teenagers

I have not seen a kids activity table at a wedding and I’m also not a parent so take from this what you will, however most kids like different things so it may be hard to put together an activity table that’s accommodating to all of them. Their parents probably would have a plan for them and know what can occupy them.
With that being said, it’s still a nice gesture and could possibly be used, just don’t be disappointed if you put it together and it is not used at all. I wouldn’t spend too much time or money on it.

We're not doing an activity table, but I am making small activity bags that will be available for the kids at our wedding: coloring pages with small boxes of crayons, puzzles/games (crossword/word search), it will have glow sticks as well as one of the large foam glow sticks, and maybe one or two other things.

I've heard of the idea and think it's neat, but I've never seen one in action. It's not a bad idea to keep the younger kids occupied, but I wouldn't pour a ton of money into it in case the kids either don't end up coming to the reception or aren't interested in the activities.

I've seen it once. I think the kids played with it for maybe 10 minutes and then went off for a game of tag on the dance floor. It's a cute idea, but I wouldn't spend a lot of money on the activities.

We’re inviting all kids because our guests would not attend if we didn’t. It depends on the kids themselves. Some shy introverts may enjoy the coloring books but most kids prefer to dance or otherwise entertain each other. We aren’t providing anything like an activity table because it wouldn’t be economical for the 1-3 out of x kids using it. Do what works for you.
