Kids Seating

Miranda, on May 16, 2019 at 5:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

We are having about 6 (mostly toddlers) kids attending our wedding. Ours and nieces/nephews. For those who have done the same, are you putting kids with parents or at separate table?

With parents. A kids table is fine for activities, but not for dinner.

Following, as I am wondering the same! I'm thinking about having a kids table with coloring books, etc. but I don't know if I should still seat them with parents during dinner or all together at the kids table

Kids with parents. As a parent myself, I wouldn’t be comfortable having my child sit elsewhere...especially if they are a toddler.

This. If they’re older I can kind of understand an activity table for them to sit at but definitely don’t sit toddlers elsewhere.

The youngest will be with their parents (he’s just under a year). I'm going to talk with my little cousins (10 and 12) parents about where they think would be a good spot. If they want to sit with the cool older cousins or chill with their parents.

We're having about 6 children as well under the age of 9 and they'll be at the same table as their parents. 2 of them are our girls so they'll be with one of the grandparents.

I'm of the idea that if kids are sitting with their parents, their parents should or will have a better chance of watching them.
I plan to seat children with their parents.

Absolutely with parents. Fine to have an activity table for non-eating times, but for the meal I would never seat toddlers away from their parents.

With their parents, of course. It's one thing to have a "kids' table" with activities to stave off boredom. It's quite another to have kids on their own during dinner. Toddlers especially will need their parents around to make sure they eat, or to make sure they don't throw food, or make a mess, etc. Better to seat all children with their parents, regardless of age.

I attended a few child friendly weddings. When my children were under 7, they were seated beside us. Once they were a little older they sat at a kids table, that was beside the parents table. For the age of the children you're saying, definitely keep them with their parents for dinner.
