Kids' Room & Activities

Laquita, on June 23, 2020 at 4:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

For our venue, the room we chose has a smaller room off of the main DR which we decided we'd use as a kid's activity space (I originally wanted a kids' table so this is so much better) This isn't to send them off to another room, I want the kids attending our wedding to have as much involvement as possible & to have fun. What are some of the activities we should have there? There should be roughly around 15-20 kids. My 10 year-old niece mentioned crafting.

Also question off of this one, when would it be appropriate to send our Save The Dates? While some family is within our state, we do have some that are traveling. Wedding is July 25, 2021.

It would be nice to have a variety of toys and games in there then! You know how there’s lawn games? Stuff like that where they can do together like big Jenga and what not

What is the age range for the kids? That could change what you decide to use.

As far as STDs go, if you have a significant amount traveling, I would go 4-6 months ahead of time, depending on how far they're traveling. I've heard the "normal" is 3 months for no-travel situations. We have some coming to NY from SC, so we'll go earlier than 3 months since that's a significant distance.

That sounds fun! Our theme is like a summer festival so games would fit just fine.

The ages at the time will be around 3-11.

We have family traveling from Florida & Arkansas so I wanted to get some out as early as possible so they can plan accordingly.

Our venue had a kid's room. We hired a professional nanny service to hangout in there. They brought board games and crafts, and the room had a TV with a Disney movie on and some bean bags. It was 100% optional but a few of the kids used it. We included it on the details card to families with kids under 10.

That sounds like a good idea if we'd be able to put that into our budget, but I know FH would reject this idea lol Though I do think we can use the idea to put the kids' room thing in the invitation so parents will know there's going to be things to do for them.

For ages 3-11, I would do games, coloring, a movie, and maybe crafts. Let us know what you decide to do!

I've found some great coloring pages that I can print out, I'm making coloring books out of those. If we did crafts, what do you suggest we can do? I put my niece as activity director (lol) and my godmother will be in there helping out. I'm not a very creative person, so I just never know what to do.

I would do crafts related to the wedding! They can make you a wedding card, they can decorate a big canvas you get for them, you can buy little mini canvases for them to paint, etc. Maybe tissue paper with instructions on making tissue paper flowers to go with the wedding theme?

Oh those all sound like great ideas, my niece just so happens to love to paint so this sounds like an amazing activity.

Thank you so much for all these awesome ideas, I really was so lost regarding this. I know my wedding isn't until next year, but I wanted to buy things up little by little so I wouldn't be purchasing everything at the last minute.

I'm so glad you like them!! And I'm the same way; I hate leaving things to the last minute.

I don't want to be stressed about last minute things so I'd rather get little things out of the way lol
