Kids Entertainment

I’m not a kids person. We are having only older kids who can entertain themselves except our ring bearer who is 5. He’s a very well behaved kid but I don’t want him to be bored. He’ll probably leave early with his grandparents but I want to get him something anyway to play with during the reception, especially speeches since those are horrible to sit through sometimes for adults lol. Definitely a coloring book but any parents have other good suggestions for a five year old?

Something he can can do on his own that won’t annoy the venue with a mess.

I was going to make goodie bags for our little guests (coloring books, small toys, glowsticks, etc). Could you do something like that?

That’s what I’m thinking just curious what items would appeal to a five year old. I really meant it when I said I’m not a kids person lol

Can you ask his primary caregivers? I'm guessing that he's in some way close to you if he's your ring bearer. They can tell you what he's into. Like, my friend's son is obsessed with dinosaurs, so a dinosaur coloring book or dinosaur toy would be great for him, but maybe not as great for some other kid.

My son loved matchbox cars at that age, and still does. You can get a five pack of cars inexpensive at target or Walmart.

Based off my nephew; crayons/coloring books, toy cars (make sure they dont make noise), a "chill space" if you have room (pillow, blanket, maybe see if mom/dad have a tablet with quiet movies). Definitely talk to mom/dad/caregiver about what he enjoys and it will be okay. Smiley smile

My niece is 5 and she literally had fun all day playing with a small toy car at my SiL’s wedding. She kept showing me her toy because she was so proud of it. Let him just bring his favorite small, non-battery operated toy.

I would say coloring/activity books. Or small toy(s). I would check your local dollar store - or the dollar section of a target! They have simple fun stuff - remember he is only 5. They don't need anything over the top or extravagant to make them happy Smiley smile

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that it’s up to the caregivers of this child to keep them occupied and behaving, not you the event planner/bride. It’s also their responsibility to remove the child from the room if he gets restless/cries during a speech, etc.

I had just 1 kid which was also our ring bear and he was 2 so I was also concern. I made him a gift basket with a personalize coloring book that I made myself based on all the Disney characters he likes. I added crayons, some cars for him to play with, 2 dragon toys and a big swirl lollipop. The mom and dad were so thankful for it as it came just in time as we was getting fuzzy so it came very handy. I say ask the parents what the kid likes and go from there.

We had several kids at our wedding, most under 5. They were totally fine. They sat by their parents & had kids meals, and stayed preoccupied. Most parents came prepared with toys or coloring books anyway. Our venue did have a kids room, so we put a movie on in there and we hired a professional nanny service in case the kids wanted to use it.
