Kid Buffet

Bethany, on August 16, 2010 at 4:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

I was speaking with a lady I work with and she was telling me about a wedding she attended. They had a whole buffet table for the kids. It had hot dogs, mac and cheese, and other kid friendly foods! It thought it was a great idea if you having children at your reception!

I wonder if we went to the same wedding. :] A friend of mine had a table of kid-friendly food, I think there was mac and cheese, chicken fingers and fries. I think the food was more popular with the adults than the kids!! She also had coloring books and play-doh for the kids to play with during the cocktail hour and reception which was smart!

It's a great idea if you are having alot of kids, but keep in mind- it adds substantial costs and space requirements.

I am just trying to make sure that my menu selections won't be something the kids will balk at eating...

Having kid friendly food is a must if you know that children will be in attendance. If not a buffet, see if your caterer will let you order X# of kids plates for the mini-guests.

Our vendor offers kid menus for ages 4-12 at just $20 each- 1/5 the cost of an adult meal!!! She mentioned chicken fingers, fries, hotdogs, etc. We decided to go with an adults-only wedding, but I say go for it.

Depends on your vendor, but it can be cheaper to have a kid-friendly menu if you get an accurate headcount and guestimate the age range before. Not to mention the kids will likely not want or eat the adult-type food.
