I have KP on the back of my arms. Looks red blotchy and bumpy. What's the best way to treat it before the wedding? Or should I just invest in a good full coverage foundation?

I have the same thing. Had it forever. Try coconut oil. It has natural anti-inflammatory agents in it. It hasn't made mine go away completely but it does help. I've also heard you can mix some baking soda and coconut oil and exfoliate and rinse and that helps too. Haven't tried it since just regular coconut oil has helped me.

My mom has psoriasis and she swears by Cetaphil lotion.

I got the same thing, definitely cetaphil and I'm not sure in your case because I'm on the app and can't see your avatar but my dermatologist told me that people with extra pounds have it worse. So healthy eating and exercise.

Nothing works for mine. Sun/tanning help a bit but even then it's not gone, I think its mostly less noticeable because it's not as red. KPDuty helps some people, made mine a bit better...but not really.

I didn't bother with coverup cause I thought it would get all over my dress, but my photographer toned it down in edits I think.

I second the coconut oil. I've had this condition for the last 20 years. I've been to dermatologists and none of their recommendations worked. On a whim, I used a homemade coconut oil sugar scrub and the backs of my arms are clearer than they've been in decades. (not perfect, but damn close!) About once a week, I rub on a small amount and rinse away in the shower.

I wish I knew about the wonders of coconut oil years ago.

The best thing that worked for me and my patients (I am also a medical student) is Lac-Hydrin or Amlactin. It has a fruit acid in it that breaks down the little keratin plugs in the hair follicles (which it what causes it to look bumpy and red). I try to use it every day to keep it under control. It takes a few weeks to notice a difference but it does work. Hope this helps!

Coconut oil works well for a LOT of people. It doesn't work well enough for me to use it regularly. In general, you want to soften up the keratin in your pores, so using an exfoliating scrub (sugar or salt in oils) is often effective, and using non-irritating lotion (Cetaphil is great) works, too.

And just know that a TON of people have KP, so you're not alone! I used to think I was the only person with it until I did a search for treatments online. It's common, and you notice it on yourself more than people notice it on you.

Have to agree with Emily and the rest as far as trying the oil with a scrub. I have this and hate it. I have been to multiple dermatologists since I have eczema as well. Nothing really helps or takes it away completely unfortunately.

I once had someone touch the back of my arm and ask me what was wrong with it. Talk about embarrassing.

    Also, I don't use Cetaphil, I'm a CeraVe fan.

The best thing for mine has been tanning. It's not something I do frequently and there are health risks but unfortunately, it works.

@Kristin Oh my god. I have it on my thighs as well as my upper arms. It used to be SO much worse on my legs, and I never had to shave because every hair follicle on my thigh was an angry red bump that was clogging the folicle (clog = no hair).

I went on a date with a guy, and I wasn't wearing a SHORT skirt, but when he dropped me off, my skirt was riding up a little and he could see my thigh. He reached over without asking to caress my leg and was like, "Ooh, you have goosebumps!"

NOPE. No second date either (no thanks).

Aww, Stephanie, I feel your pain! I have it on my upper things (top of thigh and back) as well and get eczema in my knee pit and around the ankle bend. When I shave it always looks like I have red dots. I know it sounds like I'm old and crusty, lol, but really I'm not I try to keep it under control and take oatmeal baths and stuff when the bad seasons come around.

I would have been mortified! I know I shouldn't be embarrassed but I want to pull my head in like a turtle when people see it.
