Keg or bottles

Amber, on February 2, 2017 at 10:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

I'm on app and I lurked for a bit but could not find anything like this... I know kegs are cheaper and you can end up having left overs, but we are having an after party after the reception so it can transported. I've done a little research too but seeing what the WW community has to say. Which would you prefer? Probably with having bottles we may have it poured into a cup so nothing breaks, cans are even an option. It is a country, rustic theme so the kegs would fit in perfect for that.

Following because I have the same question. We don't have many drinkers, so we are thinking that 2 kegs and a few cases of wine would suffice. The plan is to do a keg of a light beer like Blue Moon and then a darker beer like an amber or a stout.

We are getting two kegs for our reception and that might not be enough! But if I were you I would go with kegs especially since its cheaper. But like @Lillian said, I would get a light beer and a darker one for some variety.

My FH has requested modelo that is his beer of choice and then we were thinking of Bud Light and I may also do a couple of bottles too still discussing that though.

Another down side to kegs is lack of variety. As beer connoisseurs 2 kegs would not due (not because of lack of volume but lack of variety for people with different preferences). Certainly if you think your guests will be happy with a couple domestic beers then go for it. My FH is a home brewer, so we will be bulk buying bottles of from a brewery here in town and having a keg or 2 of his creation, ww will have a tough crowd to please with his homebrewing buddies. Then a case of red and case of white wine of my choosing for our rustic/chic backyard nuptials. Also thinking of doing a signature drink, grapefruit rattler and gin concoction (that we both love) we first tried after a tip from a drunk guy in line at a beer tasting with my FH.

Kegs all the way. If a bartender uses it, you won't have to worry about contamination. It's so much cheaper, and tastes better in my opinion. One keg has about 160 servings. We have 150 invited guests so we are getting two kegs, bottles of wine, and stuff for our signature drink.

I think kegs are fine as long as your are not drinking out of solo cups. If bottles will be poured into glasses anyway might as well just get kegs.

We will be having a bartender. Definitely won't be drinking out of solo cups during the wedding. Thank-You I'll start pricing kegs soon

We're doing kegs because bottles were more than double the cost, and FH prefers draft beer by FAR anyway. In our case, the venue has an actual bar with taps so it's not just straight from the keg. Bottles give you more opportunity for variety, but we just chose a dark and a light, which should please the bulk of guests...hopefully. So anyway I don't see a problem with kegs. But I would think you can transport bottles/cans just as easily, just make sure you have a cooler. ETA: agreed with Laura

We are having 3 beers - a keg of miller lite, bottles of Pilsner Urquell (FH's fav beer) and bottles of Dogfish 60 IPA (my 2nd fav beer, Raging Bitch IPA is my fav but I'd end up wasted drinking it all night). Most of my friends will drink Miller lite but I wanted some "fancier" beer options. Keg beer tastes better but I didn't think it was worth getting 3 kegs because we wouldn't finish them all so I just got a keg of what the majority will drink.

We will also have 4 wines (2 reds, 1 regular white and 1 sparkling) and a mostly full bar (rum, vodka, gin, bourbon, scotch).

Also, look into a place that will deliver the keg for you to your venue

We're doing kegs. It's so much cheaper. In my area, gas stations sell four times as much Busch Light as anything else (we asked around!) and since most of my guests are local, we're doing a keg of that. We're also doing a keg of a beer chosen by FH, probably an IPA or something more crafty. We'll also have wine, and a signature cocktail if budget allows!

We did bottles. We bought from a store that allowed unopened cases to be returned. We had a lot of variety and had no chance of running out. We knew we overbought but also knew that we could return what was unopened.
