Keepsake wedding bouquet

Tiffany, on April 24, 2018 at 9:07 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 17
How did everyone keep their bouquets after the wedding? Did you press them, hang them, wax them, etc.? & how did you do it? I want to put them into a shadow box frame but i dont know what to do before hand!

I'm going fake! But if you hang them upside down until they are completely dried out. You can put them in a shadow box. They take a lot longer than you think to dry out. Then when they are looking dried out they still have moisture in them.

I am in the process of having my professionally preserved. This is something you'll need to decide on pretty quickly because it is time sensitive. I forgot to look into this before my wedding and found someone about a week later. Fortunately I had kept my bouquet in a vase with water during this time so the bouquet was still pretty vibrant. If you dry them yourself like the PP said, it doesn't retain the color of your flowers and looks faded. Instead, if you try to DIY you can go to Michael's and get silicone to soak your bouquet in which keeps the colors vibrant. There's some other steps to it too, but I wasn't up for doing it so I hired a place.

Mine was calla lilies which are toxic to cats, so I left it at the hotel rather than bringing it home for my cat to chew on. Smiley smile

Where do you go to find someone to preserve bouquets? Or do they have to be shipped off? I feel like no one would do that where I'm from :/

My future mother in law is florist and she is going to make me a mini version of my bouquet to press and save. I thought it was a cute idea

I found the place on yelp. It actually ended up being near where I live.

I'm going to dry them and then put some of them in an ornament.

My sister trying to hang hers but it didn't work. I will end up going through a professional to preserve mine! I have been told it is worth the money to get it done professionally!

I'm having my preserved too I already contacted them (even though it's not until Oct) not sure what I'm going to do yet they can do shadow boxes or make them into jewelry. I love the shadow box but on the other hand if I have a girl I know she's not going to want my dress so it would be nice to have a bouquet made into jewelry that should could use somehow (stick in her bouquet or whatever) if she would want. Hahaha that's like super far into the future though.

Tossed it. I have the photos. Just not a priority for me personally, especially in wedding land where "budget creep" is real. Smiley amazing

I'm undecided if I'm going to preserve my flowers or not. I will have two bouquets anyways - one will my bridals, so maybe I'll have two chances to decide lol

I’m doing my own flowers with origami. But if I did real flowers, I’ve heard of a shadow box that can preserve them.
    Best of luck!

Hi Earias! So you did a search for bridal bouquet preservation? I'm suprised there is not anyone that offers that service in the wedding wire vendors. Would be an opportunity. Thanks ❤

Yeah I was surprised how few places do this. I contacted my florist first to see if she had any referrals but she didn't so then I googled it and looked on yelp. A lot of places require you to ship your bouquet to them so I got lucky in finding a local place.

Mine are all fake! So I’ll have no problems! I’d like to spray them then display them in our china cabinet after the wedding!
