Keeping veil on during reception?

Alexandria, on January 22, 2018 at 6:20 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 21
Hey all! Curious whether or not people are keeping their veils on during reception? I’m getting a cathedral veil so obviously that would have to be removed (for dancing’s purposes), but I have seen 2 tiered cathedral veils where the longer length is removable. But I just can’t decide if I even want to wear the veil all night, even if I can transform it into a short one. 🤔🤔

I plan to only wear a veil for some pictures and the ceremony. I plan to do some kind of updo and want it to be visible for part of the night. I also am not a huge fan of veils to begin with. I haven't been to a wedding where the bride has kept it on all night, but it all comes down to what you want to do.

I’m thinking I’ll do a cathedral veil. I may have it attach to a thin pearl headband or similar headpiece and then possibly keep the headpiece but remove the veil for the reception. I’m looking to buy an heirloom quality silk tulle veil which would be very delicate so I wouldn’t risk messing it up by wearing it all night.

I am also doing a cathedral veil, but as of right now I am taking mine off after pictures (because I’ll have a pearl and jewled head peice) or after our first dance (but I don’t know if it would get messed up/stepped on).

I am planning on wearing a veil for the ceremony and pictures. If it's not to annoying I will keep it on for some of the reception.

I don't think it will be practical to keep it on all night, regardless of the length.

All the brides I've worked (as a Bridal attendant) with have literally wanted to rip the veil out the first second they can. Most are before the reception, some want it for their first dance. It's all a matter of preference for you and there is no wrong answer here. Do what makes you more comfortable Smiley smile

I kept mine on for most of the reception. It was fingertip length so it didn't bother me to keep it on.

That's exactly why I don't want to wear mine all night! I'm wearing a fingertip veil and taking it off after the ceremony and pictures.

I might wear mine for cocktail hour, but after that it will be off. I will definitely be dancing with my guests and I'd be afraid of it getting caught on a bracelet or something because that would definitely happen to me! 😳

Mine was finger tip length and it barely made it down the aisle after the ceremony. It was heavy and kept tugging on the beadwork on my dress. I took it off as soon as I could!

I would not wear a cathedral length veil all night. If it's longer than fingertip length, it's going to be a pain.

I've seen some wear their veils during the reception but I plan to take mine off. It can get pulled on when people are hugging you. I do have thin hair though, and even though I bought a veil, I'm not positive I'll wear it just in case I can't hold it up or it ruins my hair taking it out.

So there’s actually ways to bustle a cathedral veil. I’ll be wearing it for the cocktail hour/ first dances because the detail is just gorgeous. Then I’ll take it off to keep in a safe spot.

I had a fingertip evil. I wore it all night and then to the after party haha I loved it. I didn’t have any issues with hugging anyone or it getting in the way.

I had a smaller fascinator/birdcage veil but i kept it on till it fell off while i was dancing, haha. my BFF had an elbow length veil and kept it on all night because she figured it was the one chance she'd ever have to wear one. i've seen a mix of brides keeping it on and taking it off--if you take it off it might be nice to have a different hairpiece to put in?
