Hi! This is my first post although I have been reading for a couple months and occasionally commenting. I will be getting married in Ohio in July, outdoor ceremony and indoor reception with outdoor games and such available. It will be pretty casual with the bridesmaids wearing long skirts and mis matched tops/ crop tops. What would be a good cooler choice for groomsmen attire so they don't get too hot during the ceremony? Originally for gifts I wanted to buy my girls these beautiful shawls I found but am now thinking I should buy something for them that could cool them off not warm them up. What about guests? We are probably not doing favors but what are ideas for helping everyone stay cool? Thanks!

Thank you for added suggestions of menswear fabrics. Thank you all for your concerns. I believe having back up plan with high temps being the same as rain back up plan is wise and something I hadn't previously thought of. This year at my wedding date it was extremely cool so you never know. You can have extreme heat in may and cool temps in July.

Thanks especially to those with specific advice.

This will be a casual wedding, no vests and probably no suit jackets. Knowing my friends/family people will be dressed informally and for the summer. However they wil be made aware it is an outdoor ceremony in case they prefer not to be in sun.

    Thanks again everyone.

Date Twin! I'm getting married in New Orleans and I am fairly certain it will be hot, so as much as I want an outdoor ceremony I am planning for inside. However, I am also renting portable air conditioning (mister fans, etc.) for the venue courtyard so that it will be somewhat usable if people want to enjoy the outdoor space. You could look into that. The company I am looking at swears the fans don't get people wet. We'll see.

I would say for groomsmen linen or seersucker suits. Perhaps go without a jacket at all.

I am having my OUTDOOR wedding in TEXAS on this Friday!!! I say to you congratulations and shake off those haters!!! This is YOUR wedding. Like my baby said as long as he is invited he could care less where we get married. Anyone who loves you can make the choice to come to both or only the reception with no love lost because us summer brides who love the outdoors are only planning on this being a ONE TIME thing. The truth of the matter is that while making every effort to make the guests who do come comfortable is surely loving - this wedding is not about your guests, it's about you and your soon-to-be. I AM A BRIDE WITH AN AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE SENSITIVE TO THE HEAT. People have to be responsible for their own health. Precautions should be taken yes, because heat can be a very dangerous matter and those who do come will appreciate the measures taken to try and make them as comfortable as possible - because they love you and want you to have the best day - how you and your soon-to-be want it. YOU GO GIRL .. and those pictures pictures are going to be gorgeous with the beautiful creation of nature in the background!! Smiley heart Smiley sexy Smiley smile
