Dedicated April 2021

Keep going or postpone until 2021

Stephanie, on March 14, 2020 at 10:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Like many other brides, my wedding is April 4th which falls in the COVID-19 craziness. We were still going strong since the city where we are having the wedding isn't effected yet until today. UK and DoD travel bans knocked 8 ppl off my list today alone. Not counting the last minute 4 ppl cancellation unrelated to the virus.

Basically we determined if we fall under 35 guests and/or they close down Boston Logan Airport flights domestically, then we will cancel. If we can't get money back we will reschedule to April 2021. My venue is only open July 11-12 and the first 3 weeks of December for the rest of the yr and neither of us want to marry during those times.

We still plan on legally marrying on April 4/5 regardless we don't want to wait anymore. Any other brides out there have contingencies for whether they intend on rescheduling?

    April 11th- same boat

4 cancellations with DOD ban. 1 cancellation with UK ban. Waiting for more, local and driving we can still get a certain amount and thinking VIP guests will mostly be there.

I won't cancel or reschedule until there are domestic travel bans or event bans or my venue closes.

My plan is to wait another 1-2 weeks and asking my venue for alternate dates and checking in with vendors. I am working on my contingency now, you have a good start which is nice.

Yeah I really wanted to only wait until maybe the end of August but my venue is booked the whole month plus we are invited to two other weddings later this year. Not counting juggling vendors. It's just insane how this is happening right now. I'm just glad to hear of someone else near my date waiting a little longer to see what happens I have seen a lot of early April brides postpone (no shade, just observation).

Yeah it's making me waver a bit but my final numbers are due March 30th and that's what I initially thought in my head so I'm sticking with that for now for making a decision. I'm going to work on an alternate date though, I'm not picky on a date just thinking my venue will all be booked up for awhile. Le sigh...

Ours is April 4th as well, the only way we would cancel is of they issue a no travel ban within the US. We live in KY but are getting married in Gatlinburg. My venue sent out an email this morning assuring it's guest that they will not close. They are a private facility and they do not allow guest/tourists on the grounds. Just going to up disinfecting routines.

We ended up rescheduling even though we were 4/4 as well. My FH's niece ended up in quarantine, and my FH's mother cannot be exposed to this virus. So our VIP guests not attending was a deal breaker for us. We are also in Dallas, which is currently a heavily quarantined hot spot, so that added to our decision as well. I think our guests were grateful to not have to travel, and we can all celebrate when things settle down. You have to make the call for yourself. Definitely check with your vendors and get your plan b in your head. There's no playbook for this - we're all dealing with disappointment and grief over what should have been a happy day.

Ours is 3/30 and I just had my final meeting with our vendor yesterday. She assured me they will stay open and if it somehow gets crazy they will work with us. It's a destination wedding in FL and we have had 7 cancellations already even though everyone is driving. I'll see where we are a week out and then reassess. Best of luck to all of us but I'm keeping positive and thinking we will all be fine before it gets much worse!!!

We’re April 4 too destination in NOLA, as of now we’re going on as planned even though people are canceling. The venue says they’re still operating normally so I guess the show must go on....

UPDATE: Forced to postpone, taking a survey to see what new date is best. Pretty bummed.

I'm wondering if this will happen to us. We are 9 days out- down to 18 guests and they just closed all the beaches in FL... Wondering the same- guess it depends on what the venue has open. Really hate this. Can't decide what to do.

I ended up cancelling because I would have had more people drop and financially it would be a waste to hold an event for like 6 people. Plus my state really wants everyone to abide by the 10 people rule. So we legally married on St Patty's day but will have the ceremony and reception with everyone next April. My venue is booked solid the rest of the yr except Dec but we don't want a Dec wedding.

You could just do your close fam for a ceremony and postpone reception to a later date. Just keep in mind cases in the US are still rising. But yeah this whole situation really stinks..
