K1 visa approved!!

Danielle, on September 26, 2016 at 11:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

I haven't posted an intro or anything but have been lurking/posting/commenting the past few months! I spend way too much time on these forums! I'm Danielle! My fiancé and I started talking on tumblr a little over 4 years ago. After 7 months of talking everyday, skyping and falling in love...he flew to the US from Australia to meet me. We both never thought we'd do anything so crazy but when you find the one you'll do about anything. After 4 years and 7 international trips we got engaged! And after months of putting together visa paperwork, waiting to hear back, getting photos, exams and finally an interview today done...my fiancé finally has his visa and we are legally able to marry in the US with the intention of him becoming a permanent resident! He doesn't want to announce the news too much until after he quits his job and I needed to share it! Smiley smile I know there's a few other international couples on here I've seen so feel free to share your stories as well...I love hearing them!

Exciting milestone!! My friend and her husband (then bf) were battling the process for her to get her green card for a year! Its a great feeling to have that hurdle out of the way!

@Dani - Congrats! We're also an international couple (I'm American and he's from Europe) and are looking to start the paperwork process. Any tips you can give would be much appreciated!!

Thank you!!! Smiley smile such a relief!

@FutureMrsG ahh so awesome!! How did y'all meet?!

Well the main thing was we were so unsure about how long it would take so we could time it right with the wedding. Our whole process took 6 months. We did it ourselves and are super glad we didn't hire a lawyer. This forum:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/80-k-1-fiancee-visa-process-procedures/

Was super helpful! Or we would just google our questions and found a discussion on it. Sometimes the advice is very contradicting - no blue pen, you need a blue pen, don't put blanks here, keep it blank, etc and it stressed me out bc I wanted everything to be perfect. In the end those little details weren't important. Just make sure you follow the directions as best as you can and don't leave something out on the main form. We used boarding passes, passport copies, itineraries, a few letters, some screenshots of skype logs, our venue contract, and about 10 pictures of us for our evidence and it was fine! We got our NOA2 approval in about 2 months. We had to kind of be on them after that for an interview date. At the interview, he got asked about 4 questions: how'd you meet, how many times have you met in person, have you visited recently...and that was it. We made a huge binder of more evidence, pictures, letters, hardcopies of boarding passes...and they didn't even touch it lol. Oh well. In the end it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! save everything, copy everything, and be patient! Sorry that was such a novel!! Best of luck! Smiley smile
