Just venting: Unresponsive vendors

Mrs. DeNigris, on March 24, 2017 at 12:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Can I just vent for a minute?

I'm really annoyed with my photographer right now. When I was booking her, we emailed back and fourth quite often to answer questions, arrange times to meet and sign contracts, etc. Every time I emailed her, she would get back to me right away--within 2 hours.

Since I've booked her, I emailed her about scheduling e-pics. As usual, she got back to me right away (an hour later). When I responded to her, I never heard back. Then I followed up with another email a week later, and still nothing. Now it's been two weeks and I've heard nothing.

Obviously the next step is to call, which I will, but it just drives me crazy when someone is super responsive when it comes to booking, then goes MIA now that my deposit is down. Personally, I just find it really unprofessional.

I get that she's busy and wedding season is about to pick up, but...I'm a paying customer too.

Does this drive anyone else crazy?

It makes me crazy with my clients too.....I try to get back to people within hours but it doesn't always happen.

Call her. Emails get lost, not everyone is great with texts; my website (with the contact form) was totally down for a month last year.

Two weeks is a long time. Call her.

Call her. My DJ just mentioned that one of his clients emails began going to his spam folder out of the blue without explanation. Give them the benefit of the doubt and give her a chance to get back to you. Otherwise, I would be incredibly frustrated too!

I'm a vendor and this drives me flipping crazy!!! Definitely call. But I understand your frustration. I feel that way with vendors, and I feel that way with clients (sometimes I think potential customers don't realize we're people who take the time to message you and not robots, and potential customers think they can just click "delete" to emails and that's okay; it's not!). I'm with you, sister!

Find new vendors. There are plenty of professional ones out there. When you continue to do business with unresponsive ones, it sends a message that the behavior and service are okay.

I feel ya. Our ceremony venue is a tall ship and the person in in touch with spends many days at a time out sailing. Sooooo I have to be patient waiting for reply emails, which is hard.

I would call. If she doesn't answer or respond to your voice mail within 3 days I would send her s certified letter with a copy of the emails and phone log stating she has been unresponsive and request a refund. No need to chase anyone to give up your money

I'm joining the call club here. The standard has plummeted to embarrassing levels.

My alcohol vendor is like this. They got back to me immediately with an initial quote, I wanted to change a few things.. three weeks later and no response yet. They're my only option (per my venue) so I feel like it's extra frustrating because I can't just go with someone else.
