Just have to share my first big "oops!"

Sarah, on December 17, 2019 at 12:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

I have been really organized and on top of things with the wedding so far until the bachelorette part. My sister (MOH) and best friend (co-MOH) are planning it but have asked my input as to locations, dates, etc. So I threw out a date to the group and after some back and forth we finally settled on a weekend. I asked to book the place myself (airline miles for honeymoon!) and went forward. Well...fast forward 3 weeks, I am a music teacher and have my winter concert. That's when it occurs to me, I have booked my bachelorette part on the same date as my spring concert (that has been scheduled since last june!!!). Y'all as a music teacher the concert is BIG DEAL! I could NOT miss it! My MOH had already requested her time off work (she works at Disney World and it's hard to get leave) I was in a panic!! I think I was so worried about accommodating everyone else's schedule, I forgot to think of my own.

Fortunately, My friend just got a better job at Disney that allows for more flexible leave, the vacation rental place easily moved the trip to the following weekend (at no extra charge), and we are good to go! So, what has been your biggest "oops!" of the process so far??

I’m a music teacher too and I had regional auditions the weekend I was supposedly going to get engaged. It was supposed to be a surprise but when I told my now husband I couldn’t go on the trip bc I forgot I had auditions he was super disappointed. Then he ended up proposing a month later in our living room, no speech or anything. Oh well.

Not knowing that a girl that only works about 4 hours a week at my job is getting a divorce; then writing her name and her soon to be ex-husband's name on the Save the Date. I felt so bad, but she didn't tell us so I had no idea...

I accidentally ordered one save the date for every guest, not every household! So when I was done addressing, I had like 70 extras and was freaking out thinking I forgot people, then it hit me what I did lol!

We nearly ran out of STDs and way over ordered on invites!

That, and DH was absolutely sure the Catholic Church would approve us to get married (I'm not Christian)... and I wasn't so sure. But it's his church, and I thought he would know.

Long story short, we had a civil ceremony at the same venue as the reception.

My bridesmaids dresses aren't exactly matching how I wanted. My sister is self conscious about her body n had to be covered. Sooo her dress is different than the 3 other bm's. They're all in the same sequin dress. I thought my sister can be different because she's my sister. I then wanted to her to match my flower girl but it's the wrong color. All colors match the wedding. But my sister n flower girl have slightly different colors than each other. Not a big deal but damn.
