Just can’t get over the disappointment, the dj ruined our night

Tara , on August 13, 2018 at 6:22 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
We’ve been married for 2 months now, and although I love my husband, the dj ruined our reception. We were planning with them for 3 months, and on the day of, we made sure everything was ready to go with them. They did amazing for the ceremony and all way going well. When it came to the reception, apparently they weren’t ready or weren’t listening to anything we were planning for the past 3 months. They didn’t play any of our songs we asked them to, our introduction was ruined by the wrong song and we had to give them a quick list for all of the other songs for our events. When it came time to dance and party for the rest of the evening, they played nothing but line dancing and everyone asked them repeatedly to play something else. I had to take a break bc my dress was getting too heavy, but the zipper broke on my reception dress and I did not have a backup. My girls pinned it on me, but it took 45 minutes. (Not their fault, apparently the bridal store I bought it from has faulty dresses). Anyways, I get back to the reception and the dj is STILL playing line dances. So, my husband and I told the dj to stop playing and we sent them home. Basically, fired them on the spot. Wish we would have done that sooner. Anyways, We then started to play our friend’s iPod, but by that point, the reception was pretty much over. We danced to at least one song and took a celebration shot with friends, then everyone started to leave. We did not get our dream reception, and the entire time, we tried to have fun, but it was forced. We had to choose a cheaper honeymoon bc the wedding got too expensive, and I didn’t see the point at all. I chewed the dj company out one side and down the other and got a partial refund, but I just cannot get over this feeling of utter disappointment. My husband wishes I would let it go, but I just don’t know how.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Did they have any reason as to why that happened? Not that it makes a difference at this point. I would leave them reviews everywhere to let everyone know what happened to you so that it doesn't happen again.

I wish I had some great words of advice on how you can get over this. I don't know...maybe have a dance party at your house with your closest people? Kind of like a do-over?

They said it was a miscommunication. Ugh!

Well not to add fuel to your fire but how much of a miscommunication can there be? Fine, they went there incorrectly thinking that is what you wanted but after telling them repeatedly to stop playing that, there really shouldn't be any miscommunication. And if they are professional DJs they should have more than 1 type of music on there.

However, that said, there really is nothing you can do about it now. As the previous poster said, make sure you leave reviews for them everywhere you can but other than that, whats done is done. It sucks and I understand you feel slighted but focusing on that will not do you any good.
