Just a quick vent

I have been trying to hold everything together during this whole covid 19 thing, but I’m losing it. I am 24 days until my wedding. I don’t have a bridal party only a maid of honor which is my future sister in law who is finishing up her fourth year at the art school in Savannah so she couldn’t be here to help do anything. She is literally coming in 2 days before the wedding. Since this virus has hit I have been trying to do everything on my own my FH mom offered to help with appetizers because we are doing our own to save money besides the fruit and veggie trays. My FH refuses to let her help so when I’m talking to him tonight I told him I realize she is stressed out, but at the same time I’m having to cook for my own wedding and I can’t ask her to do one thing. I’m not going to lie it hit a nerve because I have went from being able to show up at venue and have everything done to now having to cancel my venue (thanks covid) and do everything myself. I think I’m just getting overwhelmed I’m torn over our guest list there is still questions on it. Trying to figure out if we have ordered enough food and then all the stuff I’m going to have to try and do the day before and squeeze in a rehearsal and then staying up all night fixing cupcakes pinwheels and pig in a blanket. I have tried so hard to stay positive, but it seems like the closer it gets my positive attitude is fading faster and faster. 😓😭😩

Can’t you pick up food???? Please don’t cook. It’s too much work and won’t end up saving a lot of money. Subway sandwiches? Will an Italian restaurant cater & serve it?

I second PP. Please don’t cook. Find an Italian, local BBQ, or Mexican restaurant that can give you 12-15 bucks per person. You might save a few bucks cooking but the stress alone will drive you mad.

Why does your FH not want his mother helping?

It feels like you really need *his* and her help!

I’m not cooking the meal just the snacks to have while the food is set up. Which is pinwheels I was going to have ham turkey and veggie one plus pigs in a blanket and I will be picking up a fruit and veggie tray from our local grocery store. The only reason I am doing the cupcakes to add to our other cupcakes and cake is because it was a request from our son lol

I wouldn't even make snacks. I would but then from a professional. Making your own food has sanitary issues especially with the virus. Given that you are so stressed because of the snacks, it would also be easier on you to purchase them from a professional.

Where I live we don’t have people that do that kind of thing I actually help my Future mother in law cater weddings so we know all about the rights and wrongs when it comes to food so that isn’t the issue. It was just the fact me being the the bride and having to do it all she offered her help and my FH said absolutely not.

I would be honest and say you can’t do it all without help. If he’s not willing to let her help (even though she sounds willing and has experience doing exactly this) I would say you’re dropping one or two of the things you were planning on making. If the pinwheels or cupcakes are that important to him he can help make them.

And this. And your FH should be helping you anyway.
