Junior Bridesmaid

Linda, on January 9, 2017 at 12:19 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21

Hi Everyone,

I have a quick question are any of you having Junior Bridesmaids? I asked my little cousin to participate as my junior bridesmaid I guess to help me with my dress and basically be by my side. I did not want her to feel left out. She's 12 Years old so I didnt want to have her as a flower girl. Does she get a smaller bouquet similar to that of the bridesmaids? Also her makeup I was thinking of maybe doing something light on her since shes young I definitely dont think she should pay 65 dollars for someone to put a full face of makeup on her. Im a little worried that she may be shy to walk alone when it comes to the Venue, I know she will be fine in church. At the Venue would it be odd if she walked in with the flower girls or would that a little weird?

I am having a Jr. Bridesmaid - my 13 year old FSIL. She'll have the same bouquet as the other bridesmaids, and will walk into the reception with one of the groomsmen. The only reason she's "junior" is due to her age really. All the wedding day events she's participating as a BM.

Yeah shes not going to have a partner so she will ultimately be walking solo into the church which i know she will be more or less fine with. I know she will be shy for the actual venue entrance though

We are having a jr bridesmaid too. I'm getting her a bouquet similar to the other bridesmaid just slightly smaller.

I'm having a JBM too. She will be treated like the rest of the BM, though shes young so I don't think she needs makeup, I'm leaving that up to her mom (who is also a BM). As for her bouquet she will probably have a smaller one too

I'm having two JBM. They're sister I used to nanny for. They are wearing skirts the same color as the bridesmaids and a white top and their bouquets will be the same but slightly smaller than the bridesmaids. I'm having them walk in with the flower girls and ring bearers so that there are some older children helping out that situation lol. They are getting the same type of gifts as the bridesmaids and their family will be at the head tables.

My oldest will be our Jr. BM, she is 13. She'll have the same bouquet as the other BMs; she will walk by herself at the ceremony but at the reception will walk in with our other children. Im keeping it simple with a little lip color and gloss.

How old is too old for a flower girl? I'm having the same thoughts. Although my wedding is still too far away to pick my bridal party I have a younger cousin I don't want to leave out who will be 9 at my wedding. Would it be best to have her as a jr bridesmaid as well?

There isn't an age limit on FG. People have asked their grandmothers to be their FG before. So long as the little girl in question is excited about it, that's all that matters.

I asked my cousin's daughter, who is 9, to be my FG. My cousin told me ahead of time when I asked if it would be okay with her that her daughter would be thrilled. The next time I saw them, my FG was bouncing off the walls excited about it and asking my FH and I if we were excited about the wedding. 9, in this case, definitely is not too old.

My daughter(12 at time of wedding) and niece (15 at time of wedding) will be my junior maids. Haven't asked but my niece told me she was going to be. Of course my kids are going to be in the bridal party. Two of my sons (11/15) are going to be little groomsmen. My twins who will be 7 will be the flower girls. My oldest son (18) wants to officiate. I agreed but we have a groomsmen spot reserved if he changes his mind or the option to walk me down the isle with my dad (what I want him to do) I wouldn't have her walk down with the flower girl. I have seen the jr maid walk down in two ways They walked with a jr groomsman or they lead the other brides maids after the MOH. I am planning on having both of mine walk down with the JR groomsmen or walk down side by side with one another. Sorry about the hidden post the site double posted.

I am having my niece be a junior briedsmaid. She will be 11 by the time the wedding rolls around. I am getting her a mini version of the bridesmaid bouquets. I'm not requiring makeup, she's not really into that. However I have offered to have my makeup artist do some light makeup if she wants when the day comes. I imagine her dress will be an age appropriate version to coordinate with the bridesmaids. We have to start shopping for those soon!

I have one and she's doing everything the others are. Makeup is lighter and dress age appropriate but matches the others and she'll be walking in with the others. She's 13. I'm also covering all her costs seeing as its much lower than my adult bridesmaids

My flower girls are 10 and 7 they are both the same height which is why I'm having both of them as flowergirls so I don't think age matters too much. My cousin that I'm having as junior bridesmaid is very tall and is in that stage where she just doesn't look very young I guess preteen stages which is why I decided to have her as a junior bridesmaid. As @bluehenbride said there isn't an age limit it all is up to you and what you want

My Jr. BM is my future step-daughter, who will be 13 at the wedding. Her dress will be the same color as my MOH, but just more age appropriate. Haven't thought about flowers, but I imagine I'll just have her makeup be light, and I know she'll be excited to have her hair done.

My 11 yr old niece is my Jr Bridesmaid. She is wearing a similar dress to the BMs but hers has a higher neckline. I plan on having her bouquet be just slightly smaller than the other girls. I plan on just putting a little eyeshadow on her myself and maybe some neutral lip gloss but I would definitely not have get her makeup professionally done.

As for walking in the venue, I have her walking into the reception with her father who is a groomsman, but if you think she would be more comfortable walking in with the FG and RB go for it!

I have two Jr. bridesmaids. They're daughters of one my BMS and one of FH GMs. Also FH's goddaughters. One will be 12 and one will be 9 when we get married. Their 3 year old sister will be our flower girl. We're planning on doing flower crowns for the JR bridesmaids. And a kissing ball for the flower girl rather than a basket with petals.

I am having a junior bridesmaid and I am having her pull the flower girl down in a wagon, since the flower girl is so young.

I have 2. FH 13 year old daughter and his 10 year old daughter. They have the same bouquets as the rest of the bridesmaids. They will be walking with FH's nephews who will be Jr groomsmen, 17 and 13. I can't picture them walking in with grown men.

I asked my two nieces (both ten turning eleven) to be Jr. BMs. I was going to let my SIL and former SIL pick their dresses and they would be in a different color and of course age appropriate. As for professional, my nephew was going to be a Jr. GM, so they could have walked with him but in a row of three instead of him escorting them. They would have had normal bouquets and would have attended the bridal luncheon and getting ready, but obviously not the bachelorette party or anything like that.
