Jukebox for reception music

Betsy, on January 17, 2011 at 1:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Me and my FH are on a very tight budget and really trying to cut corners where we can. Originally I thought it would be a great idea to have a jukebox instead of a DJ, save money and also save space in the reception hall. But now I am sort of having second thoughts and my FH is really set on it. What are your opinions? We would order the jukebox about a month ahead and load all the reception music on to it that we want (ie: first song, father daughter, etc) and have a family friend do our announcing. Has anyone else ever used one, what are your thoughts? Smiley smile

I've never used one, but how much is it? I was just thinking an Ipod might be cheaper..Although wtih the jukebox you wouldn't have to worry about speakers and stuff, at least I don't thiiink so.

I want to say its about 200.00 for the jukebox for 4 hours, delivery and pick up included, holds up to 500 songs. We wouldn't have to worry about speakers for the music itself, but we would have to get speakers/microphone for annoucements. My biggest worry is that a DJ gets people going and amped up for dancing. I do have a lively croud but I guess Im afraid it will lack that vibe that a DJ brings.

200 sounds pretty reasonable! But ya I get what you mean for the vibe, DJs can change types of songs according to dance floor flow and stuff. Hmm you might look around..although I do know first hand adding even a few hundred dollars more can be a big deal. Our DJ does it part time and is 400; more mainstream in our town pro ones were like 800 or so, so I'm glad I found ours..ask around maybe somebody knows of somebody or look in smaller towns nearby..But if you have a lively crowd it's less of a concern.

I like the idea as well. We are using our laptop and a sound system. But, your idea is great as well.. Both to save money and space! Awesome.
