Joint Couple's Wedding Shower?

My FH family wants to throw us a joint Wedding Shower. Before planning my own wedding, I didn't know what a Bridal Shower was. How common is a Couple's Wedding Shower? Where are they usually held and what is expected at them?

Couples showers are becoming more popular and I personally think they are really fun!!

I've only been to one so far, but they went less bridal shower (just a little decor, only 1 game) and more backyard cookout which everyone just hanging out together! I do still think it's fun to have at least 1 game, and I love the trivia style "how well do you know your fiance" games.

Here are some more tips from WeddingWire on how to plan a co-ed shower:

My MOH is doing an "I Do BBQ" for us. It's just a cookout with some family and friends. Invites will be sent out with our registry info. There will be games and food and things like that. That's what were doing instead of a shower. Should be fun!

In my family we do this for all weddings, it's usually a BBQ held in my great aunt's house (where my cousins and I grew up, as well as my dad, their mom and their other sister), and it's like a "shower" for the bride and "welcome to the family" party for the groom (my dad's the only "boy" in their generation and in my we're all girls)... It's a fun get together and usually every one brings a rare item that noone thinks of to gift the couple, like mops, detergent, soap, toilet paper. Two days after my cousin's wedding we went to help them set everything up at their new home and we took pictures of them using every item in their "basket". They even posted a collage of it thanking for the "best gift ever"
