jewelry help - unpierced ears

Jessica, on April 30, 2009 at 4:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

So, I do not have pierced ears, but would like to wear earrings at the wedding. (I had them pierced once, my ears rejected them, so now there is too much scar tissue to try and pierce again) Does anyone know of any good places to get clip ons, magnetic, glue on earrings that look pretty? I don't want it too look really cheap. My dress has some pearl looking detail to it, so that is an option. I prefer to stay away from clip ons because they hurt really bad after awhile, but if that is all I can find I will, of course, deal with it and just wear them during the pictures and ceremony. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Scar tissue will not prevent you from getting your ears pierced again. WHat you can do is go to a body piercing place and they will use a needle instead of the gun. ALso, surgical steel will help ward off infections.

If you still decide not to go that route there are plenty of guides online on how to craft your own clip-on/glue on/magnetic jewelry. ALl it takes is a trip through google.

I dont know of any place you can look but I do know that most craft stores as well as online have the clip on parts and you can get any earrings you want and just glue them to the clip on part. Also look into jewlery from india, I have see some where they loop around the ear and hang just like normal earrings, some are beautiful.

Third site on google for costume jewelry. I meant to post that on the previous post.

Oh that site is really nice at first glance! I'll have to look deeper into that one...thanks! I once considered getting them repierced, but probably won't really care to ever do it again. My skin is so sensitive that I have to have a certain carat on things. It almost doesn't even seem worth it to try and get them pierced. Plus I'm not too into jewelry except for special occassions like weddings Smiley smile But, should I want to in the future, I like knowing that I have the option - thanks for that tip too!

If the earrings don't work out for you...maybe just go with a necklace. I feel that both a necklace and earrings are overkill...wearing just one or the other looks very classy!

I agree...my dress is a sweetheart neckline and the straps are sheer with designs on them so I think earrings, and maybe a bracelet at the most, are needed. A necklace might take away from the top of the dress and the straps I feel. I saw some earrings that I really liked. That site is more for retailers I think because it told me if was an individual then to click on this other link and it took me to the same earrings, but for individual prices. Thanks again...I saw some really pretty ones that I hope will work!

Surgical steel is a non-porous metal. It is used for medical equipment and such because it is so steril, so the carat thing wouldn't be an issue, also it won't irritate your skin. I have a similar sensitivity problem and after much trial and error I learned.

Also, if you went with a necklace, use a delicate chain and small charm, it will look classy, and not take away from your dress at all.

I would recommend trying to get your ears pierced again..I know.. it'll hurt a little and you might not of wanted that option...but I also used to react badly to piercings when I was younger..never ever wore a pair of earinngs again till I was 15? My holes never grew in though, But any of the earrings I own and worn have never bothered me..I have gold, surgical steel, and a few pairs from places like claire's..none of them bothered me...I guess i grew out of it!

I feel for you on wanting to wear earings and not wanting to re-pierce, been there, done that, so I designed some earrings that are actually worn AROUND the ear, mainly for those who are disabled, who want to wear earrings but can't put the wires or posts and backings on themselves. One hand and they slip over the ear with a couple little chains/beads/pears hanging in front of the ear from the top, a coated wire behind the ear with dangles below that...send me an email and I will show you what I mean.... **************@*****.***

I don't expect an order, just going to show you an option to standard earrings.

Oh I feel bad for you, that sucks! My advise, as it is often, is eBay! They have a HUGE jewelry section and you can find fine (not costume) jewelry.

Just a thought but do you have any older family members with clip ons? My mom is wearing her grandmothers pearl clip on earings to my sisters wedding as kind of a memory of her since she just recently passed away. My grandmother just brought a box of all of her mothers jewelry (my moms grandma) to the bridal shower to show my mom and she picked out a really pretty pair of antique pearl clip-ons. If not...I'm sure Ebay, like another girl said will have something, but finding handed down antique ones will be free and be more sentimental meaningful to you.

Hi - I have had a few brides with clip on issues and decided to purchased some earring converters to be able to convert any earring from pierced to clip on. If you find a pair of earrings that you like that you would like to get converted, I can probably help.

Also have a vendor who has some pretty clip ons that I can show you if you are interested.

I had an unfortunate accident - my nephew pulled my earring out when he was really young and it completely lacerated through. I had it repaired and had a ton of scar tissue - it repierced fine though & 7 years later you can't hardly even tell :0) Anyway, would highly recommend you consider it. There are options available if not, but you wont have as much versatility.

I have a lot of great bridal & wedding party jewelry but only one pair of clip ons. Not sure if they would interest you or not, but here they are! If you are interested, contact me and I will hook you up with a great deal.

Hpe you have a really special wedding day :0) - Congrats!
