Jeans vs Slacks

Katelyn, on July 28, 2018 at 8:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27
Hi Ladies-- I'm torn on jeans vs slacks! FH loves his jeans and is really wanting to wear jeans for our wedding (obviously just look at the facial expression in the pictures lol). I'm honestly like both looks and I don't think I have a preference after seeing him try on some variations today. It's pretty split when asking opinions of others from the bridal party and I suppose I'm just looking for more opinions or maybe some ideas on how to give FH what he wants, but also making it look cohesive with the whole bridal party. My girls are wearing cabernet/wine colored long dresses in various styles from Azazie. Thanks!

It all depends on the formality of the wedding. Jeans will work if it’s a casual wedding. I personally prefer the slacks over the jeans. But like I said. Depends on the formality of your day!

Jeans, girl! My FH and groomsmen are wearing jeans because they're like him and are just way more comfortable that way. Plus, I think it looks good!
If you're set on having him in formalwear, maybe he can wear slacks for the ceremony and jeans for the reception, since it takes guys like 10 seconds to change?

I personally can’t stand jeans at weddings. You’re wearing the nicest dress of your life and you’re going to be standing next to someone in jeans?! JMO

It's hard not to consider the smile, lol. He looks very nice and comfortable. It's something you both need to decide, but my FM is wearing kakaki pants. He begged me and decided why not...

I agree with this. And if your BM are wearing long dresses, that's more formal than jeans too.

Even if the jacket is blue, I far prefer black twill, standard black jeans , to any indigo or other blue jeans. Black is a more formal color, and a blue jacket over black jeans better with long dresses But for comfort of material and cut, he gets jeans, you get a little more formality.

Personally, I don't like jeans at a wedding. Even for a guest, let alone the groom. You've spent all this money on your dress, hair, and makeup and he's in jeans like it's a regular date night? If you're going for the full vest with the suit jacket, that's a three piece suit that deserves trousers, not jeans. JMO. I'm curious if his mother has an opinion? I can only imagine my FMIL's reaction. 😉

I don’t like the jeans. It looks out of place, especially when your bridesmaids are wearing long dresses and you’re in a fancy dress.

AGREED! You can wear jeans every other single day of your life it won’t hurt to wear nice dress pants on one of the most important days of your life. Personally I HATE seeing jeans at a wedding.

Would he agree to wear a suit for the ceremony, pics and dinner, so your attire was closer to the same level of formality, then change into his jeans later?

    I third this!

I did take into consideration the heart tugging smile 😉 but if your wedding is even remotely formal, this is just not appropriate for the occasion. I think “once the reception is in full swing you can change into your jeans” is a good compromise. Do your first dance, etc then he can throw on those jeans. No different from a bride changing into a more comfortable reception dress. Good luck!

If you're having a rustic country wedding, I love the jeans. They go so well with the vest! Remember that it's his wedding too, and he should feel like himself, just like you will in your dress!
If you're having a formal wedding in a ballroom, I would go with the slacks for sure though.

I personally don't like it when the women are basically wearing formal attire and the men are wearing jeans. It doesn't hurt to wear slacks.

We are having a very rustic wedding in a barn and while I am in an a-line wedding gown he will be in jeans and boots with a vest but no jacket. My girls will also be in floor length gowns but the over all feel is really rustic and we both like it. I think I agree with some pps that if you are in a ballroom or more formal setting it wouldn’t make sense but I have the unpopular opinion of preferring the jeans, even without considering how much better it looks like your fh feels.

We're having ours on a ranch in Texas and it is more so casual, rustic and outdoorsy. I appreciate all the feedback and I really like the idea of compromising with jeans later in the evening if need be. Thank y'all!

Honestly I like the jean look better. I want a my fiance to wear jeans but he did not want to. So I gave in and let him pick out what he wanted to wear. I would say let your groom pick out what he wants to wear it's his day too. He looks a lot happier in the jeans. Best of luck to you two..
