January or February in Orlando?

Jjb041612, on March 11, 2015 at 9:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hello everyone! Congrats on your engagements/weddings!!

My fiance and I have narrowed it down to January 18th or February 15th, 2016 (both Monday's on a long weekend). I am obsessing slightly over the average rainy weather being so high in Feb vs. Jan, but nervous about it being a tad too could for an all outdoor ceremony/reception in January.

Sadly I have lived in FL my entire life but never remember weather (even when it was just last month lol).

Has anyone been to a Jan/Feb wedding and have recommendations either way. We are pretty set on our venue Smiley smile

The reason why its hard to remember weather in Florida (I live here too) is because it can be extremely unpredictable. I don't think rain is going to be too much of an issue in either January and February but the cold might. This year was unusually cold. I think it dropped into the 30's at one point in February so choosing February over January won't guarantee warmer weather.

I would look into providing blankets and having space heater in case it gets really cold and with any outdoor event in Florida always have a back up plan.

Is the reception going to be outside too?

I am also in Orlando and my wedding is in June, which is still going to be unpredictable. I praying for sunny skies and a temperature that doesn't register "hell", but with FL you never know. I have attended a wedding in Orlando during this time of year before and it was fine. They had the ceremony outside starting around 3pm, which is generally the hottest time of the day and I remember it was like mid to high 60s and I loved it!

Yes, February may be warmer, but not a huge different in weather.

Thank you all! Paradise cove is our first choice...I fell in love with it 2 years ago. Just found the Winter Park "farmers market" train station tonight. We love it so may check it out if we are super worried about the cold.

We were in Disney in January of 2014 for vacation. It was so cold we had to rush out and get hats and gloves at the local target.

From experience this year (I went to universal with my family in Jan and in Feb)... Jan wasn't too cold. High got up to low 70s and there was no rain. Feb it was cold, low 60s, and rained all weekend. I would pick Jan! I'm southwest fl and Jan weather seems better yearly than Feb because Feb starts the rain.

We were in Orlando at the end of February last year...weather was great. FSILs went the month before and it was in the 60s and overcast

For the four years I have lived in FL, I have found January to be warmer than February.

I'm closer to the Gulf which keeps us warmer in the winter than Orlando.

Jan. & Feb. are both typically dry months. Chance of what we Floridians call "cold" weather in either month. BUT, Feb., Mar. & April are "high season" and motel rates are higher here (don't know about Orlando).
