January Disney World Mini-moon!

Kate, on March 9, 2020 at 9:04 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 3

With the global pandemonium of Corona Virus going on, my FH and I are not set on where we would like to honeymoon just yet. We did however decide in January 2020 we would like to visit Disney World for a mini-moon (still germy, I know Smiley xd ). My parents are snow birds in the Tampa area, so we have a great opportunity to stay with them for a few days to save some money, then drive & stay in Disney from there. The reason I'm posting is because I am looking for ALL the recommendations!

What are some CAN'T MISS bars & restaurants in Disney/Orlando area?

Preferred hotels? (We would love a shuttle service!)

Your favorite park as an adult?

Other attractions that you love?

Did you use a travel agent to plan your trip?

Did you have a food/beverage plan and was it worth it?

and if you have any other suggestions, I would love to hear!

Thanks ladies!

xx Kate

What are some CAN'T MISS bars & restaurants in Disney/Orlando area?

My absolute favorite bar in the world is Raglan Road in Disney Springs. Amazing Irish vibe and the food is fantastic.

Disney Springs has so many great options: STK for a fancy steak dinner and swanky cocktail/rooftop. Wine Bar George for classy cheese, charcuterie and wine. Homecomin for Southern classics.

In the parks, my favorite restaurants are at Epcot. Biergarten is the German buffet and it’s delicious. La Cava de Tequila in Mexico has the best margaritas and a queso, guac and salsa dip trio.

Be Our Guest at the Magic Kingdom is a great experience for lunch and a great value on the dining plan.

Preferred hotels? (We would love a shuttle service!)

Staying at an AirBnB and Ubering to the parks is also a budget-friendly option!

Your favorite park as an adult?

    Epcot for sure!!

    Other attractions that you love?

I love doing bar crawls around Disney—monorail resort bar crawls (Trader Sams is a must-stop!), Boardwalk area crawls...

The pools at the nice resorts in Orlando are beautiful and we also love making a point to slow down, relax and spend an hour or so swimming, hitting the pool bar and a slide ride or two!

Did you use a travel agent to plan your trip?

I do use a travel agent, and can provide recommendations for other agents as well. For an on-site Disney trip, it’s a nice peace of mind. Planning for Disney has gotten very complicated!

Did you have a food/beverage plan and was it worth it?

So every time we stay onsite we get the dining plan. It’s so nice to prepay for your food as part of your total package and make payments over time. Food at Disney is pricey and the dining plan, even if it’s not as great of a value as it once was, helps us budget and also enjoy treats and great meals without worrying about prices.

I did magic kingdom and Epcot. But to be honest I find the universal studios theme parks way better aha so if you CAN visit those, try to. A lot of people also go to gator land

Oh, Epcot was amazing! We managed to get all of Magic Kingdom in one day, but Epcot, I think it needs 2 days. The food at the pavilions is really, really good.

Stay on property - Disney has buses for everything, and they have an app to help you figure out which buses to take.

January is a great time to go - we just did for our honeymoon - smaller crowds. Make sure to tell your hotel you are celebrating, they will give you buttons, and you'll get little perks from cast members and restaurants. (We got a couple of complimentary desserts, for instance.)

You can Lyft over to Universal if you want to go to the Harry Potter world, which is two-park ticket and worth a day off property at Disney.
