Jamaica early December - Tent or No Tent?

Michele, on February 18, 2021 at 11:51 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
Has anyone gotten married in early December in Jamaica? When I was doing the interview for wedding planners I got mixed responses for whether to do a tent or not for the reception. The ceremony is outdoors and it is all on the same property. The question is to tent or not tent. It is a good chunk of funds which we have budgeted for, so money isn’t the issue but it’s a bonus if we don’t tent. Just torn between the practicality of ensuring you have coverage if bad weather and the beauty of being on the water and able to look at the stars. Appreciate any input especially if you have been to Jamaica/done a wedding there in Early Dec!

A pic where they used a tent for a prior wedding at the place we are going to be using.Jamaica early December - Tent or No Tent? 1

I personally love open air for island weddings, but you’re taking a huge risk. Our island wedding in Jamaica- we had to purchase a tent (it was in our contract.) However, no tent for ceremony is fine as the resort will have a back up location for the ceremony if it were to rain.

I love them too which is why it is a difficult decision/I am so torn! We aren’t getting married at a resort. We are renting a house so getting married on the property there. So, not really a backup location besides the tent option. Thanks for your response!

I just googled January weather in Jamaica & it seems that rainfall is at its lowest during that month. I’m an insurance girl (for my job) & would purchase the tent to play it safe.

Oh man that's so tough! If it does end up raining you'll want the tent, but on the other hand December is supposed to be one of the driest months in Jamaica!

Thankfully your venue looks stunning both ways! 🤩
