Jack and Jill Bridal shower?

kt, on July 16, 2009 at 4:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Has anyone had one or planning to have one? I have more guy friends than girl friends, plus I consider my FH's friends my friends too, so I was considering the Jack and Jill thing. Do you invite couples you are planning to invite to your wedding? What kind of games and activities did you do? Anything different and unique about them? I've actually never made it out to a bridal shower so I have no idea how they are supposed to go anyway...Thanks!!

We are doing this. I don't know what games are going to be played yet as they won't tell us anything but that it is this sunday and we have to be there at 2. I'll update you on how it went. happy planning

We will be doing that too. Personally, I think bridal showers are sooo boring, so the guys shouldn't be exempt! Haha. No, but I just figure having men there too makes it a more laid back/less giddy (annoying) atmosphere Smiley smile

Yes we had one and it was so much FUN! We only invited people that will be attending the wedding. We played quite a few games and some we ran out of time so we didn't.

    1. Blind fold Groom have him sit and all girls kissed his cheek he was supposed to guess which one I was. Prize lip smackers.

    2. Blind fold Bride have all guys sit and feel each of their calves guess which one was FH. Shaving cream as prize.

    3. Have girl products sitting out random ones (some they may know just for help) guys guess what they are. For the girls have tools set out and guess. Prizes were guys box of tampons - girls hammer.

    4. Blind fold us and have us feed cake to one another.

    5. Had questions who know us best. We had like 10 questions. Prize framed picture from engagement pics.

    6. Dunk the bouquet - had basket set up and girls lined up to toss into basket. Winner basketball.

It is so much better than if you have to go alone!!! Everyone got involved and after it was over we went swimming & cooked out

We're having a couples honeymoon shower on Sept 12. We are having:

Blind fold bride and feel mens legs

Triva Game on which guest know the bride or groom better,

A scavenger Hunt with wedding items and camping items hidden (we're going camping in the woods for our honeymoon)

And, guess how many 'boston baked beans' are in a jar.

We are also having "pigs in sleeping blankets", Texas Cole Slaw, and baked beans, and cake to eat.

We are decorating the house (my sisters) with a small tent, sleeping bags and a fire pit.

We are inviting both men and women (ppl on the wedding invite list) so it should be fun.

Thanks everyone! All those games sound much more fun than the traditional bridal shower games! I'm definitely going to look in to doing this. BTW, who is supposed to buy the prizes and such? The person throwing the shower?

For a traditional shower, the person hosting takes care of the details. For us, instead of a traditional shower, we're just getting our friends together at Dave and Busters. Food and stupid video games, yay!

I truly hate showers...not to offend anyone, but I think they are extremely boring and I hate the games. I'm also not a present person and we didn't really need anything when we got married. So we opted to have an engagement party instead. No games, no presents. We had a luau theme, served heavy hoers devours and harry buffalo for drinks. Everyone really had a great time.
