Ivory dress, what color veil?

Lakeysha, on February 8, 2013 at 8:15 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

Hi,

I just recently ordered an ivory gown and I found a great deal on a white veil. Would it be a big difference in the colors? Or noticeable to my guests and in pictures?

I noticed a difference when I tried on my cousin's white veil and decided not to wear it. But it really depends on the actual color because they're all different and some "ivories" I would consider "white"

I'm wearing an ivory gown, and I'm going to stick with an ivory veil. You really need to put the veil up against the gown and look at the color difference.

Ok. I saw that you can dye veils so if it doesn't look good together I will try and find someone to dye it. Thx ladies!

I've heard the bride's dress should be the "whitest" item out of everything - linens, veil, etc (even if it's ivory - mine is too). So if you have an ivory dress you should make sure everything is either the same shade or at least not "whiter" looking when it's held against it so the dress doesn't look dull/yellow in comparison. But dyeing the veil may be a very easy solution - good luck!

IMO, you should stick with the same color as your dress. White against ivory makes a huge difference & can be seen.

That's what I was thinking but veils cost so much. Found a two layer veil with Swarovski crystals trim for $40. That includes shipping so I bought it...

    Weddingbee.com...

I've found so many good items on there for really cheap. I check the website all day long for deals. The veil on other sites were over $150.

I would day ivory to match your dress. Sometimes white can look brigt against ivory.

I would stick with an ivory veil. White might be to bright

Hi Lakeysha!! i had a beautiful veil made... but my dress was a deep - sort of buttercream / vanilla color. the closest she had was an ivory, and when it arrived i LOVED the veil, but it did not go with the dress at all....

i actually dyed it myself using tea bags (you can google for instructions - that's what i did!), it is a common thing apparently... and i just repeated the process until the veil was the same shade as the dress.

My dress is ivory and my friend offered me her veil to use... but it was white. I would have gladly used it but the color difference was too much. My veil was ridiculiously expensive. Just remember if your dress is ivory EVERYTHING is ivory. I had to keep reminding everyone. Flower girl dresses, tuxedo shirts and linens.

Hi Ashlee - yes I saw that brides dyed there's with a tea bag. I too scared to try it myself but hopefully will find someone really reasonable to dye it for me if not tea bags here I come! Lol

@ Melissa - really? Omg I didn't know that.. I just though the flower girl had to match.. ugh.. My venue comes with white linens... I would have to rent ivory linens... I hope it's not that much of a difference cause I can't afford to rent 20 ivory linens...

Have you tried recycledbride.com for ivory veils?

I disagree with the linens... we are having white linens are our cocktail hour. I think that is separate. But your FH should wear an ivory shirt/tie/tux whatever he is wearing.

Yes, I looked at recycle bride too! They didn't have what I was looking for in my price range. Husband will be wear a black tux but I will make sure he has on an ivory shirt. Thx!

I wouldn't worry too much about the color of the linen. My dress was light gold, so our white linens were significantly lighter. I don't think it mattered and it didn't bother me to have something "whiter" than me at the wedding. I think it has to do with your personal preference.

As for the veil, I think you'll probably want an ivory one, but that's my taste. You should put them on together and see what you think. You could go to your bridal salon and try on a white veil with an ivory dress of the same maker and see if it works for you.

I Just purchased a veil in Ivory because they do not make it particular style in white, but my dress is white/silver so the ivory color really does not show a difference.
