Ivory dress bride, guys shirt color?

Ashlyn610, on October 14, 2016 at 11:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

I ended up going with an ivory dress so my flower girl will also be in ivory so we're the same color and my dress doesn't look 'dirty' next to her, esp since she's my daughter and will be in lots of pics! Should FH and the guys wear an ivory shirt, or would they be fine with white? My dress is on the lighter side of ivory, but when trying them on and it was next to a white dress it was noticeable that the colors were different. I'm just concerned if I go with white I will look a bit dirty compared to them, but I also don't want to go ivory and have it be a deeper shade and look off. Suggestions?

Truthfully, I didn't even think about this haha - my dress was technically ivory. I think my H was in a white shirt and it looked fine!

I just remembered his shirt was white and his tie was ivory (grey suit). It was great!

My dress is ivory and my fiancé will wear a navy suit with a white shirt, burgundy tie and brown shoes.

....I honestly never considered this. Mine is ivory too, but I don't want to tell all of the guys to go out and buy ivory shirts. I don't think people will think your dress is "dirty". If they guys are in tuxes or suits, hardly any of their shirts will be showing anyways. I don't think it will be an issue, just have them keep their jackets on for pictures and you should be ok

I've seen some wedding photos where the groom wore a bright white shirt and the bride was in ivory. I think it depends on how different the shades are. Sometimes it looks fine but sometimes it can make the groom really stand out.

Mine is a light ivory too. FH is wearing a white short with on off white vest and bow tie that I picked out because I think it will go well with my dress. His tux is black.

I'm in ivory and FH will be in white. I didn't like the ivory shirts.

My dress is ivory lace over light gold. He's got an ivory shirt and tux jacket. Guys are also in Ivory shirts but black jackets

Does anyone have any pics in their ivory dresses next to their groom's white shirts? Or vise-versa? That would be incredibly helpful lol.

Not to be selfish, but my dress is ivory satin, so if anyone has any pics of a white shirt/ivory satin dress situation in particular, I'll bake you a whole batch of internet cookies Smiley laugh

ETA: Wait, no, bad. I'll go to the store and buy you some internet cookies. I know how everyone here feels about self catering lmao

@Ashlyn610 you can always take your dress to the tux place and look at the shirts next your dress if you really want to be sure. The ivory shirts at Men's Warehouse looked dingy to me and the white really didn't make that big of a difference (if it did at all) next to my dress.

I made him wear ivory shirt. I was worry that my ivory dress would look dirty next to him. He actually ended up keeping his jacket on the whole night so I stressed over nothing.

My fiancée refuses to wear ivory or off white. He will be in a tux for most of the photos so it is black next to my champagne dress.

The guy at our tux place (which is a small business not a Men's Wearhouse) recommended ivory shirts with my ivory dress because of the making-it-look-dingy thing, but @FreshToDeathAng's pictures look beautiful and I literally can't even notice any difference in color. But my FH and GM are wearing black tuxes, so maybe that would make bright white stand out more next to an ivory dress?

Thanks for all your thoughts! I really only care about how it'll look in photos, which he'll have his jacket on so like you've all said, we should be good..

Im wearing a soft white dress and the lady at the boutique told me to have the guys wear ivory so I stand out and dont look washed out. Is that right?

    I don't think you'll notice a difference, truthfully!
